Evening all.
My chim has had that burning tangy power steering fluid burning on the exhaust smell since I picked it up, it's been advised that it's leaking from the hoses, so I'll look to replace them soon.
What are they like to do, and ahead anyone used the ones in the ad on piston heads classifieds?

Yes, I have them. They're really good. Very good quality. Some people have said that a local Hyphose or similar sort of place will make them up, but I couldn't be bothered with the hassle. I was going to do them myself, but couldn't get the Jose off the pump, so I got Southways to do it for me!

I have the Zubak hoses and they do their job. They get dirty easily, so wrap them is something whilst you install them. White sprit will clean them off. I went to my local marine place, which could do the same hoses cheaper. Depends how long you are willing to wait To save a few quid.

The best way to install them is to remove the pump and grip the pump in a vice whilst you mate the U-joint to the pump. This will also help you tighten the hose properly (very difficult on the engine). A fraction out and it will continue to drip. I also found that a bit of PTFE tape around the thread and mating faces on the U-joint/ pump helped it seal.

I'm awaiting my Saxo electric PAS pump which is currently stuck in the Xmas post, so will probably get my marine supplier to make up the high pressure hose.

I need to do mine too.

I've changed brake hoses + fluid before, how do you top up / refill the power steering fluid?

Is there a bleed / drain point anywhere? How do you take the pipes off without pissing fluid everywhere?
As it is closed loop with a reservoir, does it self prime and self bleed?

Cheers,
Dave

+4 for Mr Z. I hadn't heard about the accident - glad no one was hurt. He was very helpful when I bought some items from him.
