Where is the best place to buy a starter motor for my 1999 Chimaera, I have seen them from £130 to over £200.I am taking it out in the morning, as it doesn't work, I will clean it all up, but if it is bad, its going.

Thank you

Pete

Try this brand new one for £78.24 delivered to your door.

I've had this Global Power starter on my Chimaera for over 3 years now, it's been 100% reliable and cranks better than anything else I've tried including the ridiculously overpriced PowerLite starter which I put straight back on EBay as it sounded terrible from day one.

Me too, worked a treat for less than a new one.

about 3 years ago for about £65 and it is still going strong.
Unfortunately I am not sure of the model number.

+1.
An excellent starter motor, had one for over two years and still spins like a good en.

I bought a Britpart one for about £70. It's been perfect, spins over much quicker than the old original one I took out. I got it from Rimmers I think.

I bought one for a Land Rover after I was having the occasional failure to turn over. Persuasion with a metal rod worked but I had to sort it out properly.

There are refurbished ones at about £60 with 12 month warranty but I went with this for £63.36 for a new one with 2 year warranty. (I had to email them to explain it was for a TVR but they were happy to supply it).

Spins much faster now. 1.7 / 1.8 kW seems to be enough. Some people buy the uprated 2.0 kW starters, and be aware that some cheap Land Rover starters are 1.4 kW which is unlikely to be enough.

As you can see from the ebay listing, cross referencing lists about 30 part numbers for the same item!
