Hi all, I currently have a Chimaera with some minor front damage I'm in two minds as to whether to do the speed six twin headlamp conversion, I would be grateful if you could share your opinion on if you think this is a good update/upgrade For the vehicle while it was being repaired.

Kind regards

Not much help I'm afraid. I like the look but when I see one I always think there's a car that's had front end damage so I haven't had it done. But if the stone chips get too bad I might consider it.
Sorry as I said not much help

Its all a matter of personal taste.

My opinion is leave as standard, i think the speed six lights are very nice on a tuscan, but not on a Chimaera.

They are "too modern" looking to suit the chimaera.

What about the later faired in lights, they look good. This is the way i hope to go, but will wait till the front end needs paint because of stone chips, and have it done then.

Everything that TJC says above.

The chim has classic lines not suited to the speed 6 lights.

^^^^This^^^^

As TJC says "it's a personal taste thing"

IE... You either have taste... Or you commit the Tuscan headlight crime hurl

The Chimaera was conceived as a modern classic, a Healey/Cobra for the 90's if you like.

Two options here.... either respect the aesthetics or buy a Tuscan yes

Im going for the lupo lights with the flared in covers, Steve Edwards was supposedly going to get back to me with a quote for the parts once he'd written the DIY manual on doing it. Otherwise you can do a drive in drive out and I'm sure he'd fix your bodywork too. Here is a link:

Like it is said above it is down to personal taste, ironically I think the tuscan lights suit the cerbera but not the chimaera even though the cars look the same from the front, can't work out why I think that, just do…..

Another vote for keeping it standard, the Tuscan lights are exactly that..........for the Tuscan IMO.

I am biased, but if you want a change, go for the faired in lights and keep the 'Chimaera look' intact smile

Agreed, the (proper) covered headlights as above are the only other option.

Very nice in fact because again it's a modern interpretation of the classic 60's British sports car theme (Think E-Type ect) so totally in keeping with the design ethos of the car.

Tuscan lights for Tuscans, Tuscan lights on the Chimaera... No way nono

I agree on the Tuscan-style lights. In fact I don't even like them on the Tuscan!

Oddly enough, I'm even beginning to dislike the faired-in lights on the Chimaera. There's something about the original lights that just looks right.

I think the Lupo lights, or the later faired in lights, or the T350 lights suit the Chimera, but not the Tuscan lights. Though, strangely, the Tuscan lights do work on the Cerbera.

Well, it was one of the first things I did when I got my Chimaera 10 years ago. I wanted to loose the 'MGB' look and think that the lights match the 'frenching' underneath for vent and indicator [dog-bite] I think the look is more Cerbera LW than Tuscan. Being able to see at night is definitely a bonus over the standard candles.
YOUR car so go with what YOU like, that's the important bit.
Mine was done by 'Option One' in Bromsgrove who supplied the whole process on DVD to prove it wasn't accident damage. There are 3 different types; 2 main lights [not sure of the name], 2 main lights and side light [speed six], 2 main lights, side light and indicator [speed twelve]. I went for 2 main lights and sidelight [speed six] leaving indicator as is. I have no desire to buy a Tuscan or make my car look like a Tuscan, it is MY Chimaera

Agreed. My current Chimaera came with the faired-in light conversion already done but, honestly, I wouldn't have spend the money myself as I think the originals look best. If the Tuscan light conversion has been done prior, I wouldn't have bought the car!

All down to personal taste of course.
