98 chim 450 T5 gbox, plan to change diff oil shortly (for first time) but a little confused on which oil to use. Seems the mobil shc 80w1401d isnt available nowadays.

Any suggestions? Not sure which diff but assume BTR due to year. But believe both use same oil.

Cheers

Pupp

This in a BTR all day long. It is effectively a reformulation of the obsolete Mobil product you cited.

1.6 litres I seem to remember; 2 litres is certainly more than enough

Undo the filler (easy via the wheel arch with the drivers side wheel off) before undoing the drain (very bottom bolt on cover plate). Funnel tied/trapped in window shut and long flexi-hose makes filling easier smile

+1 for the Morris' Lodexol and with Pupp's quantity. Keep it level when filling and top up until it runs from the filler plug hole, that's the correct level as far as I'm aware. P.S. I've visited the Morris facility in the past (similar in layout to the old Aston works in Newport Pagnell, sheds on both sides of the road etc.) and have always been impressed by their customer support.

I have used Morris diff oil very good product, used by quite a few TVR specialists. Can be a little tricky getting drain plug undone,I ended up heating and flattening the crank in a large ring spanner, not much room between chassis and diff, that's TVR'S.
