The problem is that the length of a page depends on the options you have set. So four pages is meaningless.

Sorry, I'll try not to be helpful next time.

The 330mm long splined shaft in the parts list, is that length the right size for a car with a manual rack?

I ask because aren't the TVR UJs different lengths on cars with original PAS and those without. In which case what size splined shaft do I need or does the original manual one fit?

Also can anyone tell me how long the cut down pinion shaft on the scooby rack needs to be so that there are no clearance problems with the KA uj on the chassis.

Have a look at page 10 for the information on the cutdown input shaft.

It is best to set up the new rack in position and measure the distance required inbetween the two universal joints and order a new shaft to suit.

From the the photo on page 10 it looks like 10-15mm longer than the hexagonal bit of the uj, does that sound right?

I am going to give it to a machine shop to do for me and I don't want to cut it too short.

Hard to say now as I didn't keep measurements.

Machine shop not necessary, did mine by hand.

As I am still waiting for the rack to get here, I thought I would take the manual TVR rack to bits to get some progress going.

The track rods look different to those in this thread where they attach to the rack (female), do I need to buy a new pair from TVR parts to fit the Scooby rack?

Also the splined shaft is 380mm long, am I also right to assume that this will fit as it is, as I read a couple of posts where people found that their existing parts worked fine, but I am not sure if this was because their cars were PAS before or manual like mine.

Looking at your picture i`m not so sure your old arms will fit the scooby rack.

The ones off my `92 Griff manual rack fitted perfect.

I did buy new ones though for the conversion and the ones i used were from a Mk5 Escort with TRW power steering. They were identical to my old ones off my manual rack.

Im having trouble fitting the track rods and ends. The rods from my manual 93 griff LHD rack doesnt fit the scooby rack which looks like this:

The track rod I bought from TVR parts fit my manual rack but the track rod ends I bought from them will not fit, threads seem too coarse

What the hell is going on here!?

Do you mean the TVR track rods don't fit into the Scooby rack or the TVR track rod ends, don't go into the TVR track rods? Or both?

My TVR track rods from my power steering rack fitted directly onto the Subaru rack.

I off course then reused the track rod ends .

I have a feeling that the non-power steering track rod's are not interchangeable with the power steering track rod's .

This is strange.

The op was converting a manual rack from his 500 and 4 posts up someone said his track rods from a manual griffith fit.

Are you sure you bought chimaera track rods and not ones from another model?

The websites list more than one type for Tuscans etc.

I got the TVR tie rods and they fitted into the Subaru rack without any issues. Fitting the bellows afterwards, there does not seem to be a vent connecting the two bellows on each side (as was with the TVR manual rack, meaning when one tie rod goes fully out, the bellows on that side collapse inwards, and the compressed site balloons sideways.

Is this right? Are there specific bellows that need to be used on this for the Subaru rack/TVR tie rods or should the bellows be loosly fitted to the rack to let air in and out?

Also, should I pack the pinion hole with grease before pushing the pinion back in?

If you are worried about the collapsing gaiters you might be able to use these in the link. They are universal and stretchy so easy to fit over the track rod end. They have vents built in. Fit a pair then fit a piece of rubber tube between them. Should work okay.
