I don't want to rain on your parade but Verpoorten Technik Automotive are in the process of building new TVR Racks for Chim & Griff with all new parts including castings.
See if this facebook link works.

Great news if you can get a new tvr rack, but after reading all the forums the tvr rack seems expensive and unreliable, so if the old design is reproduced may not be any better, so impreza rack for me , but if the new racks prove reliable and good value magic many buy one myself,
My thoughts also I think. The ole turd polish re the TVR rack may hold true. Do like the sound of an Impreza rack tbh. Any future niggles and a trip to the local Subaru garage is all that's needed. IMO of course.caduceus said:

Agree. you can pick up Impreza racks off ebay for next to nothing. They are proven in the reliability stakes as well. Parts are probably cheap and plentiful. I got a brand spanker for £50. I would imagine those TVR ones will be on the pricey side.carsy said:

Trust me when I say even S/H it will be the last rack you will fit maybe the odd track rod arm but even thats unlikely what are you guys planning to do for track rod ends?
i drilled the steering arms for a m14 bolt, and used a rubber booted rose joint from mcgill motorsport, along with a couple high angle spacers. Using some hardened washers allowed me to move the joint up and down a few mm, and resulted in spot on geometry with nil measurable bump steer.
there was a noticeable improvement in all the bump steer and other measurements when i fitted the scooby rack, and this was improved more with the rose joints.

I was going to use standard Scooby track rod ends, I have increased the length of threes on the steering arms 14mm 1.5 pitch die, believe I may have to enlarge the taper in the hub , will have a look today, must admit not expert in bump steer setting/checking? How do I check /measure if it is close? Cheers Steve

Intetesting, can you post some pictures.i drilled the steering arms for a m14 bolt, and used a rubber booted rose joint from mcgill motorsport, along with a couple high angle spacers. i don't think i have any, but check mcgill motorsport on eBay, the m14 rose joints, angle spacers, rubber boots all came from there, used m14 hard cap bolts through the steering arms.I'm sure there is somewhere a TRE that works, but i wanted to use this method as it definitely improved bump steer as it was adjustable
you can use a old tvr TRE to enlarge the hole in the steering arm also, (cut the TRE apart, grind the round ball to a square shank and use a low speed drillnwith grinding paste ) if you dont have access to a taper . once the tool is in hand takes 10 mins per side.
i did find these old pics though if they help in other areas. you can see the grinding widget i made from a TRE, but rose joint is easier
on this pinion i cut a spline into it, but it was tricky, and took ages.

I enlarged the tapers in the hubs to accommodate the larger track rod ends but someone told me afterwards that the correct part is available, (Topcats iirc).
I'd be interested to know which part, trying to work out a machining free solution before I commit to doing it.Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
