Not so much the whole rack, but a pre-machined pinion, shaft and UJ as an off-the-shelf item would be good. Just the right bits to make it fit.
pinions are shimmed to each rack I've seen various shim thicknesses ...so cant mix and match readily but apart from that, its an easy enough job for the kit of parts which would include the re manufactured pipes and pinion and UJ, fluid couplings etc.

Sounds good to me wink

Ok will fully assemble and test everything before final fitting, still not sure about high pressure pipe 14mm 1.5mm pitch, and low pressure pipe 16mm 1.5 mm pitch, I have Subaru ends and original TVR pipes, but not clear how best to join up,?

what i did was use adaptors ( an6 male to either of the threads you mentioned) for the low and high pressure parts on the pinion, then put female 90 degree on the pressure pipe, and return pipe, so i could easily assemble the pieces under the car. as i was messing about with different pumps, fitted adaptors to both pumps and pinion of the same size, then made hoses to suit.

for ease, i got the hose ends and braided ss hoses , cut it to length and fitted it all together, to ensure the angles were correct, then had them all crimped. try to keep one end a straight connector is possible, that way you won't get caught out by having angles that mismatch.

you can see the ali red and blue anodised adaptors on the pinion pics i posted . I do recall these came from torques on eBay, and i did machine them slightly to use a copper washer in the hole to seal the pinion. you might also notice the holes in the scooby rack are not threaded to the bottom, so i machined off the lower threads on the fittings so they wouldn't bind when screwed in

you can get these fittings with proper o ring fittings for PAS systems, , but what was available off the shelf didnt fit the scooby dimensions at all well

i never had any issues with this method,

you could cut the scooby fittings short, and see if a hydraulic hose maker will crimp a ss hose direct to that... might work? other option is to tig a an6 weld on fitting to the cut piece, then just make braided hoses to suit.

i fitted mine when i had a ls engine fitted, so a lot of the plumbing was bespoke for my car

Going to try and fit the Scobby pipes, hopefully the pipe angles at the rack will be ok , then separate the Scooby pipes, add a rubber hose to the low pressure pipe and get the TVR fitting put onto the end of the Scooby high pressure pipe, will try this first as the Scooby pipe are cheap and good quality, bit of a long shot but worth a try

I measured what I wanted and took the rack and the electric pump I used down to a supplier and had new pipes made to measure.

the low pressure return you can just use a jubilee clip over the cut tvr hose nd the scooby pipe, if it'll fit
theres no resistance back to the tank so its not an issue.

Hi guys, how is the power steering pot/reservoir mounted as it came with a large jubilee clip but no bracket, I have the added complication of having a non standard Carbon Plenum, has anyone seen this plenum before?

The bracket fits on the side of the plenum where your coil is although you can mount it elsewhere.

I haven't seen that plenum before!

Fitted my steering arms to the ends of the steering rack, using thread lock to secure, but when I tightened the arms the rack moved in the mounting rubbers, the spacers I used were 25.4mm long so have ordered some 20mm long, and will now gradually tighten down checking for movement when tightening the steering arms to establish correct spacer length

A few pipe porn photos, looks like I will have to remove some thread from the fittings so they do not bottom out before o ring seals, got the hose from eBay, an6 both ends was originally for a Honda F1 car,

Hi SteveSPG
You mention copper washers to seal pinion pipe fitting, can you explain, I can see I need to relieve/ remove thread but unsure about copper washers, prefer not to spray power steering fluid everywhere😃
Cheers
Steve

Struggling with my adapters, do I need the o ring type or the similar ones without the o ring, any chance that someone has a lathe and could produce a few, as the an6 connections to connect between the adapters are common, but the Scooby rack and tvr pump fittings seem hard to find, any chances.?

I negated that problem by getting new hoses made up from Pirtek.

I took the pump and rack there for ease.

A good marine outlet should be able to make the hoses up for you.

Do you have the type and dimensions of the required hoses by any chance Peter?

I need to start making a shopping list for the conversion from non PAS.

Cheers
