Hell yes. It's covered in a layer of dust like you wouldn't believe and needs alignment and the valley gasket doing, but once that's all sorted it'll be like something off a Meatloaf album sleeve. There's no CCTV in the 'garage' so I might lay some 11s down

Its a touch lighter than standard but not by much. Lock goes on nice and smooth, then firms up nicely with plenty of feel. Only been up to 40....ish but so far so good. I like it.

Congratulations guys! Excellent work all round.

I'm nearly there, just on your coattails as I decided to add in some extra jobs at the same time and replaced the camshaft, water pump, shocks, powder coated the plenum and rockers, re-taped the wiring loom, cleaned and polished the expansion and header tanks..

This was only supposed to be a small job...

Hey everyone,

Can someone please give me a little wiring clarification! I've read everything I can from this thread but I'm new to wiring so I have a question (or two).

1) Where can I get a switched 12v live from? My pump is in the nose of the car, in front of the rad. Apparently I need to connect the small black wire from the pump to a switched live. Can anyone explain why? (sorry for the faff, I'd rather understand as it helps me learn!)

2) The warning light pole on the alternator is the D+ pole, right? So I connect the blue wire from the Vauxhall pump back to this?

And for clarification, I've attached the relay to the D+ pole on the alternator, so when the alternator is spinning, the relay will be switched and the pump will have 12V power.

Many, many thanks!

Mark

You can connect to the coil + 12 volt for the ignition supply and yes you are correct in that the blue cable also connects to Alternator D+ terminal.
I can’t really answer why it needs the ignition signal other than getting it ready for when the engine starts.

Thank you - greatly appreciated. All wired in, pipes attached and wheels on. Time for a test...
