If I remember right, it was about £3k. I stand to be corrected, can't find it trawling through my history.

Listing says it is having a full engine rebuild, well unless you do it yourself, that's probably £4k and more if it's done right. And it's all been removed from the car, not done in situ, so engine bay should be nice afterwards too.

Good luck to him if he manages it but it's probably a bit too much.

Couldn't find the old thread but remembered it was around £2500/3000 mark.
Would it really cost £4000 for a engine rebuild? Its only a rover unit after all init.

It's only really the block, crank and pistons that were Rover I think.

A 'cheap' rebuild would be less but TVR Powers Performance charge £3900 for drive in / drive out, albeit an upgrade.

http://www.powersperformance.co.uk/upgrades/40-lit...

wherever it is done, it's mostly the labour costs.

I bought the 150k Chim 450 off here a few weeks ago & I have to say it's as sweet as a nut. Remarkable service history from day 1, it is the automotive equivalent of Triggs broom. Only the bottom end, gearbox & diff remain & so far all sound & feel sweet..... biggrin

Received loud and clear many, many years ago Simon smile

I'm having to make up for a few gaps in her maintenance schedule along our journey together, but we are getting there. Thankfully most of the issues with the old girl (at the moment) are now cosmetic, and simply age related.

I suppose having a father who's oldest car is exactly 100 years (give or take the odd month) older than my Chimaera, and having driven on the public highway for the first time in a car that is this year 101 years old (and 'still ticking along' as the old man would say) gives one a different perspective on these things.

Not putting miles on your sports car is like not having sex with your girl friend; so that she will be more desirable to her next boy friend. loser

Great thread and I'll always prefer cheaper/well serviced high milers than expensive garage queens.

'Triggers broom' has had a body off chassis refurb/treatment and I think there is little left on it thats done the stated mileage (it was serviced/parts replaced 3 times a year with EVERY invoice to show the no expense sparing owner).

Love that pic. above - can anyone photoshop out the BMW and insert a phrase and I'll include it in the ad....

eg 'TVR - pretty with curves'

Regards, Paul.
