Hi, I would be interested to hear about your new dash as I am looking to do mine soon.
Any info on the quality and how you get on changing would be appreciated.
Pete
Hi have fitted dash a veneer type from Tvr mads . Seems really good quality. . I would advise ordering new shaped LEDs for heater controls which are available from eBay as my old ones snapped . Also warning lights LEDs can be a bit fiddly and also retaining clips can be a bit of a pig to remove but managed to do mine without any of them breaking .
Some of the holes for LEDs were a bit tight and had to clean up with emery paper carefully to get correct fit and not damage dash. But end results well worth it .

Hope this helps

Thanks for the response with reference to the alarm.
That is definitely the route I will go. Most aftermarket alarms seem to be £4-500 fitted and I think I prefer the Meta one, especially with a boot release. Meta do after all make many OE alarms for many European car manufacturers... I doubt they got the immobiliser wiring wrong!
I have a re veneered dash to fit also so will aim to do the two together, as you did.
Regards Chris.

Hi have finally got around to fitting dash , quality from tvr mads seems good issues I had was heater LEDs will need replacing if mine was anything to go by ( available on eBay) my heater panel and dash panel holes for heater leds didn't line up perfectly nothing that a small needle file couldn't fix, warning lights can be fiddley had to unsolder 2 as LEDs been glued in others are bolted in by plastic nut retaining printed circuit.
I used arldite to fix brackets LEDs etc without any issues. You need to be careful when removing gauges as small rubber o rings break easy . I also replaced dash bulbs with green LEDs but if you do this make sure all work before rebuilding as some bulb holders were wired incorrectly from build which was ok for bulbs but LEDs wouldn't work so spade connections to bulb holder needed swooping from one side to the other .
Hope this helps
Rick

Hi Chris fitted abacus alarm kit it is more or less plug and play apart from running wire to boot opening switch so I can now open boot from fob , only other extra is if your siren is defective and running new siren wire and relocating siren in a different position to reduce possibility of water ingress which could damage alarm system .
Obviously you would need to remove dash top and radio to gain access to old alarm and imobilizer units . Also guy at abacus extremely helpful
Hi 450dream,

I have a problem with my alarm at the moment and have been told by the garage that it is deff the alarm system that is at fault.

I have been looking at the Abacus alarm system with boot release and it seems a good system for a good price.
My question is really around how easy did you find it to fit.

What concerns me more than anything is getting the top dash off. Did you find this easy or a pain and how easy was it to put back together.

Hopefully the actual fitting of the alarm and the additional cable for the boot release is quite straight forward.

I notice you also mention the siren, is it wise to fit a new one at the same time, I was thinking of just keeping the one I had.

Any help / suggestions you may have would be gratefully received.

PS, How has the alarm been since you fitted it.

Thanks
Paul.

Hi Paul
You have email as I replied to email you sent me .One thing I didn't mention in email is that you need to replace immobilizer module and alarm module as a pair really as are paired (there are ways of pairing but a bit of a muck around and will be more reliable if both changed)The immobilizer is located behind radio panel if you didn't already know.

Got mine redone by London carriage craft.
Very pleased with the results.

As others have posted, get some replacement LEDs, almost impossible to remove them without breaking.

Also difficult to remove the star washers from the back of the round warning lights but LCC managed to get them off for me.

Lots of photos for the wiring loom routing.
