in a post above, I said that if the alarm went wrong again, I would take it to someone local. It did go wrong again and didnt get around to doing anything with it before I took the car in for its annual service at Dan Taylors.

Dan highlighted that the alarm was doing things it shouldnt and that he would speak with Carl and get it sorted. True to his word, Carl did sort it and changed some more parts, at his cost this time, so praise where praise is due. In life, things often dont go the way you would like them to and its how they are dealt that is important.

Thank you Carl Baker.
Good news Graham. thumbup

Carl is a good guy, very highly recommended. I have had a full Meta system fitted to mine by Carl many moons ago, still going strong and I couldn't live without the boot release. I saw Carl at Dan Taylor's workshop while he was over to have the hot start kit fitted. Being an early system it was an option back then, I believe Carl installs these as standard now.

I took Carl probably about 15 minutes to make the kit up and install but probably spent about 2 hours chatting to him about various things. Very nice chap.

You should not need the hot start kit if the immobiliser is wired up correctly .

Correct, the system that Carl installs does fix the majority of hot start issues, however experience has shown that in rare cases the heat soak in the wring to the starter motor can still cause issues. In my case I was ragging the car around a track and the engine was very hot, much hotter than you would see during road use. I would come into the pits and the car would not start 15 or so minutes after on the key, only way to start it was a bump start.

Carl has installed a seperste relay delivering a direct 12v charge to the starter to get around this issue. I understand that Carl offers this as standard now with his installs. Most people won't need it but good to have belt and braces.
