Undressing Kate, my Chim 430 resto.
Discussion
I'm looking to put a shopping list together and there are things I want to do but as my bank account isn't bottomless, unfortunately, I need to plan ahead and workout monthly budgets.
Can someone who has done this recently help me to spend my money wisely.
If you have £1000 to spend a month for 6 months to do the restoration what would you buy on,
Month no.1 ?
Month no.2 ?
Month no.3 ?
Month no.4 ?
Month no.5 ?
Month no.6 ?
It doesn't need to be spent all in the same month, it could carry over to help with more expensive things.
I need brakes, suspension, radiator, interior and chassis (including outriggers) done. Plus a whole host of other things I know you'll think of before me.
Any help and advice appritiated.

If it's a good budget then I was kinda hoping a respray might be possible if I add a bit more in.
As for taking the chassis to one of the experts like RT, as much as I'd like to,its a bit of a struggle as I'm in Edinburgh and they are all a good 250 or more miles away which is only adding to the costs. I'm sure I'll find someone closer to home to do the work.

Nothing too exciting about today's update,
Petrol tank out.
Absolutely stunned at how much fuel was still in there even when the warning light was on.
Disconnected from just before the fuel pump as it was the lowest point.
Once I thought it was empty I took the tank out. Warning, mine still had petrol in it, not much but enough to put a puddle on the floor.
Front chassis bolts removed, well 1 anyway, the other was already missing.
A few other odds and sods done but as today's target was fuel tank then I'm going to put it down as a success.
Thanks again to Marcus(you should have got a wedge)1875.

Tonight was engine loom.
Markings make sense to me so I hope don't have to leave someone else to do it
Think that's enough to bore you all.
Oh wait, one more.
Also went to visit Ramsay Coach Trimmers in Loanhead, Edinburgh to discuss interiors. Not got a full price yet but as he is the man TVR used in the area many moons ago I don't think I'll find anyone better. He'll also do the roof repairs and new rear window.
Tomorrow it's any connections left under the car.

Thanks guys. It's not the quickest project I've ever taken on but it's been the most satisfying so far.
I've already got the speed sensor on my list of to-dos, after refurbing my diff and putting the sensor back in then I fitted it too close, it rubbed on the diff and killed it. Already bought a replacement for the rebuild.
Parts of the chassis high up in the tunnel look almost brand new but other parts are showing 22 years of rot. Lots of pictures if all goes to plan and the body comes off this weekend.

Any other volunteers ?
The job doesn't stop for a Sunday league team kicking a ball about
Anyway, tonight, everything disconnected except steering, brakes and clutch.
Not going to bore you all with lots of pictures of tagged cables hut what you are getting is earth points.
Point 31p, fuel rail earth.
Point 39p rear of block, passenger side.
Passenger side, top of tunnel.
Drivers side, top of tunnel.
All chassis bolts tagged and boxed. I will be replacing them all but better to be safe than sorry.
And finaly for tonight.
This is why I'm doing all this work. This is what I found after removing the bolt.
Yes, that's a patch of body filler and gauze behind to fill the hole in the rotten outrigger.
There are no words

They way I'm thinking, and if my calculations are correct, is as follows.
Body weight <500kg
Strap around beam and small yellow strap on bottom hook capable of 3000kg each.
Each corner will have a strap capable of 1000kg.
The block and tackle is rated to 1000kg so I'd like to think I've got enough to lift nearly the whole car, not that I'm going to try that.
