Do people not bother with these anymore? I've viewed 2 cars this weekend and neither had them from what I can remember they were essential.
As an aside if anyone is considering looking at any T reg ones give me a pm I might save you a trip.

Wasn't the hood slightly redesigned at the bottom so that the cars with the unlocking buttons under the door mirrors didn't need the ears?

where the velcro is on the hood there is 'supposed' to be the elephants ears to stop water ingress. I think years ago there was an image/pdf of the exact sizes knocking around, but that was when all this were just trees biggrin

Most of the cars I've seen have remainders of the original ones or nothing, I used to fit a pair to every car when I worked at fernies, it was one of the first jobs I did to mine when I got it. They make a huge difference to keeping the outside outside! As does making sure the Velcro is stuck down and the stitching is secure.

Can someone post a picture of what they're meant to look like please.
From the description above I'm pretty sure there is nothing of the sort on my car.

Mine's a '98 with the unlocking buttons under the door mirrors and I have a fine pair of elephant ears. smile No water ingress at that point.

Nope, that's the Velcro to secure the hood, I'll take some pics in a second.

This be those pesky little ears. Dead easy to make, a bit of old inner tube, scissors and super glue and 5 minutes and it's done.

I've been calling the wrong things elephant ears for years then. Mine doesn't have those little rubber flaps and rain doesn't get in, well, not there anyway.

That's them but I made mine longer, front to back, both cars were bone dry.

This pic might show the area better. Just above the door opener, with the door open ,pull the roof back and the "ears" should be there. wink
