I will post pictures and details as the rebuild progresses.

Car was bought in August 2010 and they said that they had got the outriggers replaced (more on that later).

6 months after I bought it it one of the cylinder liners came loose so I had a full engine rebuild by TVR Power in Coventry (all 8 top hats).

Car dropped off at RT Racing in Sheffield on 20th February.

Update 1: 3/3/2015

Well the body is off and the truth is revealed.

The replacement outriggers are a pile of crap, the welds are a bag of S**t. Don't know who they used to replace the outriggers but it was a complete waste of time and money.

I think that this is proof that you can't properly replace the outriggers without lifting the body.

So far the extras I have agreed to are:
replacement heat shields
replacement fuel and brake lines

Replacement coolant hoses already bought from ACT for RTR to fit.

Some photos below.

Car on the ramp

First crap weld

Another crap weld, and this is the worst!

This shows a problem with the polybushes.

The bushes can simply move over the small tube that the bolt fits through. It really needs a thrust washer to stop the edge of the bush moving

More later.

mod note no naming and shaming please.

I too have seen bodged outrigger replacments with the body insitu, must have been a local firm as I dont think James has welding equipment at his place?

What else can you expect in the TVR world? I'm not suprised.Certainly ends the myth .....Oh It must be a good one it's had new outriggers. All the best with the rebuild.

I was rather abrupt but what else is there to say.
To the OP, I really hope you are happy with your car when that lots been dumped.

The two tubes that don't even match up, my metalwork teacher at school would have throw that in the bin,
In all fairness to James he doesn't work on them so he's also at the mercy of a complete,,,,,
I better not carry on !
Goodluck with the work and at least now the body is off you can turn the car around.

You shouldn't need to resort to this unless the chassis was beyond repair wink apart from double checking measurements when fitting new outriggers with the chassis off the car it should be the easiest welding operation ever confused those pics shown are just a Mickey Mouse outfits lash up job eek

Someone posted ' I think I know who might have done that work'
I posted ' a gobste' I was so upset to see it.
Then both posts were removed, mine by me!
Portzi being a Welder then errr kind of agreed.

Hope all goes well from now on

Not really. I'm just telling it like it happened.

No opinions offered, just facts.
