Trackday Tyres
Discussion
I have a spare set of wheels for my Chim 15" front 16" rear which I want to clad with a new set of track tyres . I want to be able to drive on the public road to the track & back again ,then return to my original wheels.Any ideas on decent track tyres in the above sizes to give good wear/grip on track + road legal ?
If you are buying more wheels anyway, buy a set of 17s instead. 4 x 108, Ford fit, so 63.2mm centre hole, anything around ET35 offset, 7 or 7.5J
Better choice of lower profile tyres (I run 215/40 fronts and 215/45 rears), which will be stiffer on track, and will handle bigger brakes when you realise that that's the next thing you need!
Of course, they won't be standard TVR fare.
If you are doing Snetterton 29th April, come out in or drive my car and see what a difference the brakes and suspension make.
BTW, I run the Federals as mentioned by OleVix - must be 595 RS Rs, not SSs - and think they are great.

There is a full set of close to new Team dynamics pro race 17" rims with federal 595 RsR`s on face book for a good price .

I use yokohama advan noeva AD08r, they really are a great all-round track tyre
I have heard very good things about AD08s and I am too lazy to keep changing wheels all the time so I have ordered a set for my standard wheels 205/50/15 on the front and 225/50/16 on the back.Kumho V70A are a favourite of the sprinters. Go for medium or even hard compound as they come softer than other brands in my experience - Camskill are about the cheapest.
They have a good tread pattern that works well in the wet (I was 5 secs quicker than the person behind me on Yoko AD08Rs). Currently have a set of R888s on the Griff which IMHO are nowhere near as good unless the road surface is bone dry. Even then I recon the Kumhos have the edge.
2 vids in 1- Firstly a sprint in a hailstorm complete with high speed aquaplane on a flooded track, followed by a dry sprint on the same day.

How about hassling them for a free garage?
They should also give 10% off for 5 Tivs or more.
Happy to give it a crack though. Perhaps the first thing is to agree a trackday organiser and then a venue. I'll start a separate thread on it though.

I think we'll need to be a bit more organised to get a group booking with discount / freestuff. That means people agreeing and paying up before hand.

Yep, that's what I did before.Happy to give it a crack though. Perhaps the first thing is to agree a trackday organiser and then a venue. I'll start a separate thread on it though.
Think of a date and venue, agree with organiser and post up.
They are quite happy to comply, never had a problem before.
