Hi Gents,
Just refurbishing a 93 4.3 Chim and would appreacite your advice.
Firstly what are the correct brake disc sizes for this as these are about to be changed we have standard wheels.
Next thing is what would you recommend just OEM or cross drilled , cooling slots etc ?
Finally what pads would be the best just for road use and mostly town driving.
As usual any help would be great.

Hi,

I have a '93 too.
They come with 240mm disks on the front as standard.
When TVR did the face lift they also increased the size of the front disks as they are a bit on the small side.

The most common upgrade is to 888/887 callipers with a 278mm or 283mm I beleive.

There are also other people/companies offering kits (some may require bigger wheels on the front), can't remember them all, but you'll be able to do a search as it's a much covered subject.

call some breakers and ask for 94 mondeo v6 brakes and carriers, a 283mm sierra cosworth disc should fit in there. The calipers should be stanped 888 and 887 for the right and left side.

I used the 887/888 callipers to upgrade the fronts on my S3C. Easy swap and a nice improvement. Only issue was I have about 3mm of clearance to the wheels. Means that the wheels need to be balanced on the inner rim which is no biggy as far as I am concerned. Also converted the rears to solid disc from drums - which I am now upgrading to vented discs (same as on the Chim/Griff 500).

There is a good 'how to' thread on here somewhere about swapping to 887/888s.
