Now I know this is a bit 'oh err', but does anyone wear driving gloves, or have any thoughts on them? (not that i'm bothered about opinions, I mean experiences from wearing)

I really like going out for drives early or later on in the day, roads are quieter and the car likes the cold weather, but after about an hour when i've lost all the feeling in my hands it's not as pleasant. If it's not raining then the roof is always off, just think i'll enjoy it more and it will be safer being able to feel my fingers.

Tried a few different pairs of gloves I've got, normal winter, snowboard, weight lifting, running. None seem to give a decent level of grip.

Gloves are for wooden and metal steering wheels ,The leather is already on the steering wheel .

For frosty morning drives I found these to be good at keeping my hands from losing all feeling and they provide a decent grip on the leather steering wheel.

Daz is right. Use it more and your hands will grow thicker skin and you will be accustomed to it. Just like playing the accoustic guitar, it hurts the first week!

I like going out when it's cold outside though, i'm always warm but like today when it's just above freezing, roof off and windows down, they get cold quickly. When driving gets a bit spirited I want all the feeling I can get smile
Looking at race gloves but they all seem a bit big, suppose I could just keep trying on different ones

I bought some black leather, Thinsulate lined, gloves from a BP station in about October, about £6.99. They were cheap and I intended them for dog walking.
Stuck them on my hands on that lovely sunny Christmas morning, zero degrees, when I went for a 50 mile blast around the frosty country lanes, roof off, heater on, thick coat, TVR scarf, wooly hat.....and they were perfect. Really good grip on the leather wheel, and my hands stayed nicely warm.

It's the tweed cap, jolly scarf, string backed driving gloves and pipe at a jaunty angle look that I would avoid I think - bit too "tally ho, angels one-five" for my liking

I use a pair similar to these and find the grip pretty good as they are suede.

Not sure how warm they'd be.
Flame proof tho, so good for your baking once you get back.

Never had cold hands from the steering wheel, it's the metal gear knob that's the problem. On cold mornings, i usually end up with a glove on my left hand until it warms up... oo err missus.

biggrin ....as opposed to the Tony Jacklin look favoured by the Chim owner..?

Have to say the suggestions so far would make me think you'd sneaked off for a drive without your carer....hehe
