Curious to know John, what grade of aluminium do you use? And is that a single cut for the poly v grooves using just the cross slide with a ground tool or what? I have to do similar one day for the westy….cheers.

the grade is T6 which can be anodised but is highly resistant to corrosion and i do use a single tool i grind them up from a brazed on tip of a boring bar you need a good magnifying glass to get it right, you can buy chasers but in my experience really only any good on a modern c and c machine.

I was thinking about a SC in the future for my pre-serp, this just makes me want one even more now, damn it John! Amazing work.
it's not just you, lathe, CNC, flow-jet, welding, it's all sexy stuff smile
I've got an old lathe in Grandads garage, just have to learn how to use it

See that would be the start of a slippery slope for me... I'd want to match that with a JE timing cover and crank driven oil pump as well as the blower kit!

Did you ever think about the gear cam drive we talked about John?
