I've never had a drama queen like this one biggrin I've owned loads of Tvr's but this one is definitely a 'character'

Prior so sale, I'm just poking around tinkering as it's been pretty good of late. So, after a gentle jet wash she's off on a tantrum again.

The interior light didn't extinguish, and yes, a TVR with a working interior light eek I didn't know this, so returned to a completely dead car, cue gymnastics getting the battery out, re-charged then more gymnastics to re-connect. Fired up, lovely....

Four days later I return, (After taking the interior light fuse out until I do a full electrical check to see where the drain is) and the fecker is dead again.

My question is, could this actually be a degrading battery?

Oh, and also, the electric windows now work with no ignition key. I can't remember if this happened before, has anyone experienced this phenomenon?

I've decided I'm too busy for this malarkey so I'll fix it then get my rear in something that I can use daily. I'll probably return, but I'll be interested to hear any other electrical 'characteristics'

biggrin

My windows work without the key.
And the interior light can drain the battery that quick.
I agree, check the door switches.
Batteries last 5-6 years in regular use - when did you last change yours?
After charging, check the voltage with a multimeter. If not 12.5+ volts, battery probably on the way out.

Can't believe I didn't think of that banghead losing my touch!!

That would make sense with water ingress, and also wouldn't be affected by removal of the fuse to the interior light......

I'll have a root around and buy two more I think, can't harm can it! Unless they are extortionate amounts, like the wiper motor!!!

Thanks Chaps, I'll replace the switches. The battery is 4 years old however the car has probably done 400 miles in 4 years so not a well used battery and I guess they can de-grade.

Before tirades of abuse biggrin I did nearly all of those miles this year. Previous owner had it for 19 years in a heated room nuts used to service it and look at it, driving approximately 100 miles a year never in the wet....I'm sure there's a medical condition for that biggrin

A battery should be used so 4 years of little use it could be on its way out

Check the battery first. If duff, it won't hold its 12+ volts
