I'm told that driver training is the best upgrade you can make to your car, so...
can anyone recommend the best option - track day training (Oulton park is my local £££), Car Limits or similar? Whats the difference?
I'd like to learn to be ahead of the car and keep it balanced, and perhaps do the odd track day or hill climb.
Any recommendations or previous experience appreciated.

Do a day with a 'ride drive' instructor. Best money I spent on my Chim in 7 years of ownership. (well, apart from many of the upgrades and the inside and out refurb!). see here http://www.ridedrive.co.uk/

It is a seriously good day and most people will learn a lot about their chim and what it can do (you'd be surprised how planted they can be if you are aware of how to drive them properly. The idea is that you learn how to drive in a 'spirited fashion' on the road, which is quite different from the same idea on a track

As they say at Nike headquarters.....just do it!

PS to clarify, I have no connection with these people except being a very satisfied customer a few years back.

+1 for Ride Drive.

I did a full day performance car driving course and did the Insurance Assessment too. I probably paid for the course with my insurance savings.

Another vote here for Ride Drive.

Prepare yourself though. You'll be absolutely wiped out after a day with them.

Agree - another vote for RideDrive.

Most of the instructors are current or ex traffpol Class 1 drivers. The road session is all about observation and making 'good progress'.

I had the full day and we went to Longcross where you get high speed laps/blind ascents/hang the back end out...and learn what the car will do in extremis.

Well worth it! You will come home mentally and physically drained

Yep - another vote for Ride Drive.

Like others spent the bulk of the day on the road, with a bit of track work included to get a feeling of just how much grip there really is.

And yes, absolutely wiped out after all the concentration.

Need to book a refresher!

n+1 for RideDrive.

It's road-focused training, but you can also have a few hot laps of a track as well.

Probably best to have some on road training then book up an airfield track day.

These have plenty of run off areas and you can explore the cars limits of grip.
