Indicator issue
Discussion
Hi all,
Had the day off work tomorrow to take the car out for a spin and some lunch with the wife and one rear indicator has decided to pack in.
It was intermittent at first now is just dead. Easy I thought expecting the bulb but alas not so. This has me totally confused.
Bulb is fine so I check there is voltage to the holder which there is. Hmmm must be the bulb holder but nope disconnected bulb holder and there is continuity accross it.
So diaconnect the multi plug and test here, once again there is voltage flashing up on the meter yet it won't light the bulb. WTF!
Ran a live from opposite side to check the earth which was fine then ran the live to the good side and nothing.
So there is a problem with live feed but how on earth is it showing voltage on the multimeter?

Hi there.
It is probably that the Volt meter only needs a minimum current to measure the voltage. (High resistance)
But when you need more current -- light bulb it fails to deliver!
I would look further upstream, maybe its the contacts from the indicator module. I don't know enough about that though in a TVR.
But there will be someone along soon to shed some light on this.
Good luck

Ok good to know I am not gong crazy.
I noticed that one dash indicator bulb has been intermittent too so must be something going on. Any common failure points? Is it dash top off time?
Just check the (several) multipin connectors behind the carpet at the B post. Several connectors there, all tend to get a build up of oxide on them = high resistance.I noticed that one dash indicator bulb has been intermittent too so must be something going on. Had the rear lights fail on my previous Chimaera - a spray with WD-40 had them going again.
