RV8R has suffered from some problems. I have what is called a domain sitter bothering me. At last count the DS wants $1500 for rv8r.co.uk
The Resource is still available, and for the moment is on www.slkguide.co.uk but will move in the near future. The new domain name will be www.writewheel.co.uk, but not for a month probably.
The moral of the story is to protect your domain names.

There are rules around domain squatting, you could take the isuue up with nominet and recover your domain for a fraction of that cost if you can be bothered with the nominet process, if you have rebranded everything as writewheel maybe not worth the effort.
RE: Protection, simplest way is renwew the domain in 10 year blocks, and set it for auto renew so the issue should never arise.

Ah, thanks. For a moment you had me worried. I renew mine for a couple of years at a time but shall extend it as well as the dot.com one that's dormant.I had a type of virus. Or rather, my computer did. My ESP was a bit miffed and it took a while to clear, and then it took a while for me to convince my ESP that I had done so.
Then I sent an email to all those on my contacts list for the specific email address to apologise for any spam emails sent under my address - it was my business address - and my ISP blocked all my addresses before sending it. Ironically, no spam emails had been sent, or at least none had got through any filters.
In that gap, of some weeks, a number of email were not delivered. I then changed the settings of my spam filter and virtually set it to receive only those on my contacts list. The address that my host used for notification differed from that of the one to receive emails. There's a laugh. So I missed notification. It gave rise to other problems as well, which I won't go into, but am still having problems with.
In short, I just forgot about the domain names. I have another four, including rv8.co.uk, and all have the same renewal date, 2016.
Around the time I logged onto a public broadband supplier 'cause I had exceeded my data limit on my phone and didn't want to incur extra costs. That is the only time I can thing of when I logged onto my personal email address
I thought about trying to get the domain back. I've been told it is a lot of hassle, it is far from 100% certain I would win and I'd have to pay well over the odds in any case. I do not want to give into extortion.
But I had a failure of my C: drive HDD today. Two weeks ago I downloaded Reflect and set up a 'ghost' HDD. So some you win, some you lose.
I'm irritated but then I was going to put all my books ('all' being five) on a website and do away with the others. I've been planning this since before I got the bug so it has galvanised me into progressing it.
For those who can't wait for the couple of weeks until it is published, please use www.slkg.co.uk for the RV8.

I don't know what I'm more angry about: my actions, which caused the problem (the bulk emailing should have been obvious. The chap at the call centre's tone of voice suggested he thought so too) or the carpet bagger.
On second thoughts, there's only one I'd like to kick in the essentials, and it ain't me.
