Hi,

For a few days now, the fuel gauge on my Chimaera has been reading eratically - changing from near empty to full but the needle always lifting off the stops on turning on the ignition.

However, as of yesterday, it stopped reading at all - needle doesn't move on power on.

Checked the connector on the fuel sender - appears secure.

Any advice of the best way to work thru checking and resolving this issue?

Starting with the easiest to do first.

Many thanks.

I'd start at the sender as that is easy to access 5 or so screws and it's out, once out you can check its condition and with a multimeter check the output is smooth when moving the float and if the calibration is out allow you to check this too by adjusting the stops at full/empty, if all is good here then time to move on to the guage....

The dash top will need to come off to get at the guage to check the connections, possibly worth taking the guage out and connecting to the sender in the boot and making a new live, earth & sender wire to emulate the loom wiring, if all is good here then the problem is in the original wiring so just need to check which of them is the dodgy one.
