Hi all, just wanted to say how impressed I am with my car. Over the last two weeks it has covered over 3500 km,s on a tour of NZ,s beautiful South Island with no issues (unless you count a blown bulb in the clock?) watched Rod Stewart in a concert in Dunedin, ( brilliant ), went to the race to the sky in Cardrona which hasn't been held since 2007 awesome!
Pikes peak in USA was the longest unpaved hill climb in the world but it is now paved making Cardrona NZ the longest so
Looks like it will be a regular thing now. Alistair McCray was driving Possum Bourne,s Subaru which was great to see and what an obviously talented driver he is. Monster Tajima holds the record for the hill and although he crashed defending the title the record wasn't broken. I would trust my car to take me anywhere especially knowing that if anything went wrong it is mostly fixable which can't be said for a lot of vehicles on the road today and what an excellent tourer it is. It gobbles up the miles with ease..love it! Keep on TVRing!

Thanks Simon and the same to you. I think if you keep an eye on things as with any machinery it helps the reliability side of
Things, no reason why these cars should be any less reliable than any other especially once the known weaknesses are sorted out cheers.

Hi Brendon, not sure how long you are planning for the trip to last? The west coast road up from Queenstown to Greymouth takes a long time and isn't the best part of the Island in my opinion.

I did a trip round NZ covering North/South island taking 5 and half months, did pretty much all of it missing out only Christchurch to Bleinheim.

Would love to do that trip in a Chimaera bowalthough my 1986 Toyoya Hiace purchased in Auckland with large double mattress provided good nights sleep and free lodgings smile

Stunning scenery every km... Mind you I went places in the camper van I wouldn't want to take the Chimaera.. Around the area of Lake Waikaremoana (North Island) and heading north dirt stone roads.. Stone chips would be a nightmare yikes Just like your Crown Range photo for km after km with some steep bits in places.

Seeing your post bought back some fantastic memories thumbup

The passion wagon similar to this but in dark green also covered 7,500km without any issuesbowtie

EDITED.. Got my mileage wrong

Hi Brendon sounds good. Will be good to see another TVR, I have owned my car for around three years and have never seen another in the flesh. About a month ago I met a guy in town with an S2 bringing my total TVR sightings to three in my life. ( the third being Andrew Whitikers racing Tuscan which I have seen race a couple of times) cheers.

Bet you get no end of looks and questions about the car in NZ, must be really rare to see one. I can go months on end without even seeing another TVR on the road in the UK.

Not as much as you would think. Some people know what it is others think it's a Triumph one publican asked me what sort of car it was so I explained... Still blank faced he said what engine has it got, I told him it was a Rover v8 modified by TVR
Ah a Rover he said. I'm sure he walked away thinking my car was a Rover. confused
