After some further ridicule from my TVR drag racing friends at Shakey last weekend i have decided to finally get round to upgrading the front brakes. My standard discs look puny behind the 17" SP12s. They perform perfectly ok on the road but did struggle hauling the car down from 176 at Elvington last year.

After advice from Simon (Sardonicus) i think i will be getting reconditioned Brembo 4 pots and will run standard Focus RS 324mm discs and standard pads.

Good call Derek, usefull for when you join us on the twisty bits.

To put into perspective.
Brummmie hits 133 in the mighty Cerbera.... over 600 bhp.
A lot of dedicated hot rods and such can hit 140 in 10 seconds with around the same power.
To hit 150 in the 1/4 mile would mean a low 9 second run. Need some serious traction and over 1000 bhp at least I reckon.

Derek, FWIW I have 324mm Focus RS disks on mine. Great stopping power. On Mat Smith's advice I went for Black Diamond grooved, but not drilled, disks. Ordered 6 groove disks, 12 groove turned up. Really pleased with them.
I will post a pic shortly, not SP12s, but you will get the benefit.....

If you find yourself passing my way, or we meet up, you are welcome to try them. I have Peter's old Bremsport calipers, with Hawk racing pads.

I've got the same setup, well, different discs and Mintex M1144 pads. It can't be beat for the money, loads of pad/disc choice as you're using Focus RS and BMW parts. Brilliant stopping power

Thanks guys i will get the kit ordered.
May stick with standard discs and pads for now.
Sure the new set up will be much better than the tired standard stuff.

Derek, I also have 324mm Focus RS disks with Brembo 4 pot calipers on mine. Great stopping power. I painted them gold and then added the TVR in by hand.

you can do it in bits mate, but to be fair i've just been googling and there aren't many cheap callipers now.

i would email and ask him for the bracket and calipers separately then get some better quality discs and pads separately

Pads, after loads of reading I went for Mintex M1144's but it's a whole can O worms, maybe DS2500s?

Derek Bloke, [still wanna fight? punch ]that does look value for money. Just double check it will bolt on, otherwise account for additional £80-£100 for brackets to be made.
