I've just recently had the bottom warning light flicker for a while on my 94 400. It wasn't a solid illumination but rather like a bad connection. It would do this for a minute, go out completely, then flicker back on.

I'm hoping it is just a fault with the light but what would cause this light to come on whilst driving? Just so I can investigate a bit. The car starts and runs fine otherwise. Cheers

Hi
Assuming the light you are referring to looks like 2 circles with an exclamation mark in the middle then it is the handbrake warning light.
I hand a similar problem when there was a cloth under the handbrake handle stopping it going down fully, hence the switch was not always cleared fully.
I am not sure about adjusting it but try pushing the handle down to see if it stops it flashing.

BTW I live in Portsmouth.

Sorry it's the bottom red warning light just above the steering wheel in this picture, so I think it's the ignition warning light. There isn't much in the handbook about it, just says contact your dealer.

I will take back my explanation as you have an earlier dashboard to mine.

That's the alarm warning led on my 95 400 (between speedo and rev counter at the bottom)

If as you say that is the ignition warning light, it could be the start of alternator failure.
