Some of you lot have had too much Clarkson exposure.. If it wasn't for the likes of Jack Griffith and Carol Shelby we'd all be driving MGB's or MX5's.... Or even, God forbid, Pork Coxsters... I regularly work for an American company, and all the Americans I've met (here and in the US) that are car nuts know that TVR's are special, even if they're not all up to speed with which model is which..

So there.... smile

The main problem with explaining something to an American is their ability, or not, to concentrate for more than 2 or 3 sentences spoken in one go. Keep it short and simple, use words like awesome and sic, and they will get it.

I certainly won't be driving any of those........ I'd rather extract my nasel hair with the missus tweezers than been seen in an MX5

I have had three mk1 mx5's the last one a lowered track day toy, all three cost the total sum of 0 to run - cept fuel, never broke in any way shape or form, were great fun and all were sold at a profit... the only cars i've ever been able to say that about!

I went to a car museum in the USA and engaged a couple of the old guys who were guides talking cars, the easiest way I found of explaining TVR was somewhat akin to AC Cobra, small light British car, drop in a v8 based on a USA V8, they seemed to be quite familiar and enthusiastic about that concept... wasn't a problem.

I am, have and/or do (both)

I have and do use said tweezers, (or a remington fuzzaway) to remove nasel hair, and am seen, and do occasionally have fun driving an MX5.

It's not all about horse power. That said I always wanted a 490SEC Wedge, but I somehow think that ain't going to happen.
