Ive owned 2 TVR,s. The later a Rosso Red TVR Chimaera 4.0 for some 3 years and have enjoyed every minute of ownership.
Even if at times the jobs required caused some frustrations, cuts ,bruises and smacked knuckles but being an engineer it was the norm for me.
I completed some modifications that i saw as being important to me if not better than TVR
were doing at the time of production.
Every weekend out was an adventure and a escape from the norm of day to day & running a business, she never let me down.
Im now at a point in time where change was necessary.
I just want to add that this forum has been by far the most important place to go to as a TVR owner, some threads helped, some made me laugh and some made me cry.I also contributed on points i thought would be important.
If i can give any advise as a ex TVR owner is "dont skimp on price for parts" get the origonal traceable part if you can especially relating to suspention components.
I bought my car from James Agger 3 years ago and he bought it back from me no quibble.
I will miss her. I new it when i escorted James to the M4 from our home and saw her in my rear view mirror for the 1st & last time.
Some may like this and some may not but i now am the proud owner of a 2004 SL55AMG,and loving every minute of it.Its not without some small issues but being an engineer allows me to get busy with her.
She growls a lot louder and more maturely, even so reminds me of good times past.
So long smile ,i may be back again. Who knows

Good post, especially the skimping on certain parts bit rolleyes Excellent choice of car too and pretty cool in red for a change. Must admit I was looking at these a couple of years ago when I was again offered good money for my car even though it wasn't for sale. [but kept the TVR and built a turbo motor instead] evil
Good luck and keep us posted how you get on.

Thanks chaps for the comments.
Turbo in a TVR?@950kgs a monster i bet . In sprinting terms that would be 1.5 times the cc for a class ( so 6000 or 7500cc) i think you will need some underfloor aero to keep it to the road.
Yes i agree its the cooler shape of the SL,s. I saw it 2 years ago never thought i would own it.
Its problems are small in that seat comfort electronics arnt working at the moment but thats all , i can live with it for the time being. Im more interested in driving and hearing the V8 than comfort of my bottom (my TVR dna showing wobble).
The paintwork is fantastic for its years, ive clay barred the car all over and applied Jewel ultra diamond bright. Its slippery shiney now and protected from UV, (red cars oxidise easier than other colours).

Hi
Merc looks nice, bit bling and VERY expensive.
I know what you mean by more mature.
I'm 62 and recently bought my 3rd Chimaera and 4th TVR.
Spent yesterday underneath and am sitting here with scratches, aching legs, back and neck.
Getting too old for this game.

I feel for you, i realy do.
You have a few years on me and i know i was struggling.
I new if i didnt sell my car all the hard work i put into her would have deteriorated and it would have been for nothing. We are after all only custodians of whatever we hold close to our hearts, so i did what i felt was right, let someone enjoy my hard work and at the same time get something else to enjoy. I might be wrong but i feel im right making a change.Worst case scenario pain will be from my wallet when things go wrong , but isnt that always the case.teacherblabladrink.
I see your a hillclimber , me too. Retired from the sport a few years ago

About the bit bling thing, the reason i bought this car was it reminded me of my Mk11 Red Ford Cortina 1600E (1750cc engine) lowered with a black vynil roof, rostyle wheels with chrome trims.Best fun i had when i was younger and a cool car at the time. All i could afford then. Even now the 1600E is still a cool car to see a bit rare nowadays.
