I don't mind them Dave. I prefer them to some of the botched Lupo conversions. Overall, I prefer Steve Edwards lights, with the black edge as they match the rear light design. But I do quite like the SP6 pods too, especially the removable ones... paperbag

But, if we were all the same and did nothing with our cars, this forum would pretty boring. I don't particularly want to make permenant alterations to the body that will drastically affect future values, so these seemed like a reasonable compromise.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that... I mean just look at the two birds QBee was eyeing-up at Silverstone wink

All good points & well made, I is only joshin ya Christian thumbup.

I'm a great believer in....

"It's your car, so do what you want with it"

However, I must say the Steve Edwards lights would look great on your silver car.

Personally I've gone for a professionally installed Mk3 faired headlight conversion.

The Mk3 headlights use the readily available Mk1 Golf headlight unit which solves in a stroke the expensive and hard to find reflectors with their silvering corrosion issue, I'm hoping this combined with my 4,000 lumen per bulb LED H4s will deliver great light with the clean aesthetics of the last generation of Chimaeras.

To me the faired headlights TVR gave us on the Mk3 continued the modern classic design ethos of the Chimaera by paying homage to such icons as the Ferrari 250 California, the E-Type Jag & the Aston Martin DB5.

Later today I'll upload some photos of my Crimson Starmist Chimaera with the Mk3 lights.

Although smoked pods would look good on a dark car.

I know your joking. All part of the banter... If only TVR values were the same as the above! Every single one is a stunning car. Perhaps they should remove the spoked wheels on these classics and refit with 17" Azevs!? wink

Peter, I agree, smoked would look very good.

Good find, but I think these need to be blended into the wing permanently? It may be the the pods on the other thread were originally these and then modded to be a non-permenant fit?

Cheers Christian thumbup, I think Surface & Design gave it a little buff after the Mk3 conversion.

And now for some close up shots..

Proper Hella sealed units, no more expensive, hard to source two piece corrosion prone reflector & lens setup.

Expensive but effective Osram LED side lights.

4000 Lumen per bulb LED H4s on dip.

The same LED H4s on main beam.

Its important to point out all the photos were taken during the day with the very basic camera on my phone and in bright sunlight, TBH the images don't really do the lights justice but they do give you an idea.

The effects in real life are rather dramatic, and the lights are now properly adjusted so as not to cause a problem for other drivers which I feel is very important.

Dave.

They do look nice. I've been fancying one for a while. A 3.8 Carrera 2 would fit the bill nicely. However, with all the concerns of cam bearings and bore scoring I think you need to be extra vigilant. TBH, these don't seem to be the type of cars you can just bolt together in your own garage without a more in depth mechanical knowledge and a few specialist tools. I could be wrong, but it looks like these engines require specialist attention. After reading the Porsche pages a few times, I've actually appreciated how straight forward and simple the TVR's are... even reliable!

They look the business, but a private sale requires bore inspections etc, which is potentially more expensive than a replacement cam and new outriggers wink

An east mids club member swapped his Tuscan for a carrera, according to those in the know they had afew years of churning out cars with dodgy engines which go with a bang, I dont think he got much change from 12,000K after it was sorted !!!!
