I did this 11 year ago on another Chimaera but on my latest car,
I have removed the clamp off the Y Piece, undone the 6 bolts on the tray and the nut on the rear hanger.
So in my mind it should just pull off the Y Piece BUT, the silencer box hits the anti roll bar.....
Where am I going wrong please...?
It's a decat Y Piece and sleeved exhaust.

Unbolt the inner bolts on the rear ARB (the ones securing the ARB to the chassis). The ARB will then drop down, allowing you to slide the exhaust out. Don't forget to unbolt the central hanging fixing towards the rear of the exhaust either (further back than the ARB).

If it has been fitted for a long time, you may find that it needs a little brute force to separate the exhaust from the y-piece, as they tend to bond together.

Isn't there also a bolt at the front end too, that you need to remove?

Last time I did one (2003), I'm sure I didn't remove the ARB.
The bracket to the block seems to have been hacked off/removed
The connection to the Y piece is free, but the system only pulls back about 25mm
It's all gone back together for the minute.....

I called my TVR expert yesterday for instructions on how to change the exhaust.
Mine as a loose baffle and sounds awful and I have a track day in 3 weeks.
I have a spare exhaust, so will change it myself.

He said I woud need to remove the rear ARB, undo the clamp and block bolt, remove the middle six bolts and remove any rear attachments.

So I think you do need to remove the rear ARB. Yesterday is more memorable than 2003.....

On my 1995 Chimaera there are the following (front to back)
Big U clamp onto front Y price (2 x half inchish nuts)
Bolt to block (half inchish accessible through the wheel arch with a long socket extension, no need to remove wheel)
6 x 17mm-ish on the silencer plate (up into the bottom of the chassis)
Rear hanger will pull out of the rubber hanger but this is also easy to remove. (Half inchish)

I can get it over the rear anti roll bar by removing the two clamps that go onto the chassis (actually plates bolted to the chassis) but I actually find it easier to remove the anti roll bar (two chassis clamps and the lower end of the links)

Do you have a standard exhaust fitted? It won't be a baffle, but one of the perf sleeves, which is likely to effect your power too, if it isn't connected properly at both ends.

Just mark and cut the end off, push on new perf sleeves and pop it over to you local fabricator.

Yes, I have a standard exhaust fitted. I also have a complete spare exhaust.
I will follow your instructions to get the current exhaust repaired once it's off the car.
Thank you
