Had a brilliant day at York Dragway today. Great company, great racing.
I won in NSCC and the final race was epic. Up against the awesome Cortina of Ian Walley in the final i threw caution to the wind and gave it everything i had. The result speaks for itself.

and Ive been aiming for this for years! http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I needed to do this now. Before you put yours on the strip.
I need to start planning my next build.

Nice to speak to earlier in the day when you were running well without Gas and well done winning the event.

It must feel great to have achieved that time and your ambition!

Cheers
Phil

Ian was trying to sort his suspension set up as this is what was happening at the previous meeting.

The little old turbo is only on 8psi at the moment while the gremlins are sorted

Has he actually bothered to leave an engine in that thing, or has he removed it so save weight? confused

Need to investigate why it was burning a LOT of oil in the braking. Was fine on power.

I think it can still go a couple tenths quicker.

Next project will be an SD1 and a race car with the Mopar in. Not necessarily the same thing.

Well done Derek, why have you become "dangerous" all of a sudden!? smile
It was smoking on overrun at Shakeys, you cant "make" it have all that unnatural power without it wearing out, rings probably...

Thanks Paul. Daz gave me the new name due to my history of incidents.
Surely rings would smoke on power too? I also have good compression but not done a leak down.
I am pulling the rocker cover first. Number 4 plug was black.

Its a classic rings symptom, as you shut the throttle it creates vacuum and pulls oil past the rings, try a blast all the way in 3rd to the red line, coast down, floor it and see if you "James Bond" everyone, on my old block it was big ring gaps/too short piston skirts.
It was quite smokey, so would have to be quite a serious failure for it to be just one pot?

Hope im wrong and its a quick/cheap fix thumbup
If you look at that drag vid i put up you can just make out the smoke as you come past.

Congratulations Derek

and that's for the info passed to Paul re my manifolds/engine mounts

He got his Pop back home and into the garage.
Was up on stands within half an hour - I'd have been off for a beer myself. Dedication.
