Just folowing on from a previous post i did.

Front NS shock has seized whilst off vehicle while fully extended.

They're standard OE BILSTEINS, just wondered if anyone had come across this before and found a solution.

I did try putting it in a vice abd give it a technical tap but no give.

I would send the whole set to the manufacturer for a service, usually a reasonable price.

Maybe the car has taken offence, they don't like being referred to as chimp, (a derogatory term used by the griefs). It might be worth removing the P, it might work, worth a try wink

Never really heard of one of these seizing unless it has damage externally. They are very simple inside, the rod sticking out of the shock has a piston on the other end that is a close fit in the body of the shock so any dent in the body will likely seize it. Be careful if you decide to pull it apart as there is a chamber at the bottom below a second floating piston which has high pressure gas in it (nitrogen) to hold the oil in the shock under pressure which stops foaming of the oil.
I would remove the spring and then if you still can't move the shock with reasonable force get it looked at by the pro,s or replace.
