My petrol pump has started making a whirring noise. Can best be heard on tick over. Is it best just to fit a new one now thus avoiding an embarrassing break down later on. If so where and what do I order and is it a straight nut and bolt fit job.

This is the type but i would advise going for a bosch if you can afford it.

Fairly straight forward job but just be aware any fuel in the tank will be on the ground before you know it. I would run it as low as pos. and be prepared with plenty of containers on hand when you unhook the hoses. (You never know just how much fuel is left in the tank even when the gauge says empty)

A couple of brake pipe clips on the fuel hose either side of the pump worked a treat for me. No fuel spills despite a fair amount in the tank.
