Difficult to see Derek. Looks like the piston has gone, has it taken the liner as well.

Yes guys its run lean at the front due to poor distribution.

I am about to pull the piston out and take a closer look at the bore. There is melted ally on there so fingers crossed.

Am I missing something here, did you spend all that money on that brand new engine/parts, and then take it to its absolute limits it soon after, before the engine could be considered to be 'run in'?

I would fk the nitrous off and go turbo now Derek.

Turbo is more forgiving and more measures can be put in place boost cut, Air temp alarms etc.

Will the ms be able to activate the nitrous in a safer way and switch it off if things go wrong??

Why do you want to stay with nitrous ??

Feel your pain Derek. How many pistons, what are the bored like? I was dead lucky, mine are untouched.

Race engines get broke in at the track wink

Yes my bad i am afraid. I knew it would be leaner but thought 11:1 on the gauge would be fine. Another costly lesson.

Ive spoken to Roland and will be dropping the block etc off next Friday.

I also see witness marks on one piston from the inlet valve. I also knew i was running close on the inlets after timing the cam and the best i could get with the timing gear i had was a few degrees advanced. So new timing gear will be used and the cam will be retarded. May even see some more peak bhp.

Sorry to see that bloke, truly I am. I can only echo Neals comments. Though 'if' you want to stay with nitrous the best way to minimise distribution problems is 8 injection points [one for each cylinder] with equal pipe lengths throughout as I did. Though I'm sure you know that already and is more difficult with the 'wizards' set up you have. I got tired of empty bottles, getting correct pressure, etc and the cost long term. N2O is fantastic when working well as you have shown many times, my problem was it didn't all the time and I found it tiresome.
Good luck mate and hope the bores are ok.
