hy what's wrong with your block Derek ? Though you just needed a couple of T H liners doing
To fix it properly ACR want to fit all 4 liners on the offside. Also the decks would be machined again. He also talked of multiple heat cycles and I thought maybe there's not much life left in this old dog so for the difference I have opted for one of their remanufactured blocks. No fear of dropped liners, new core plugs etc. I thought the price very fair.

FFS im on it!

Sorting new dash layout as I type this

Do you know the thread for

LS3 water pump side plug.
Low level oil plug.
Original oil pressure sensor.

And SPA gauges threads.

Brakes and suspension done, clutch bleed, ready to on four wheels, some electrics check fuel system over and its ready for exhaust and turbos

Then not much left to do smile
Hi Alex, dont know the threads but I know all modern GM engines use mm threads and not inches anymore... good luck smile

Wake up Ole! I didnt make it this far without realising it was metric all round wink

I got my answers in the end, its SPA gauge 1/8 npt for temps 1/8 bsp for pressures and on the engine its M16 for water pump and oil sender and M20 on sump wink

Either that or to be locked in a padded cell.
That could be the next step

Put a few thou more into the ring gaps this time.
30 thou second and 32 thou top ring.
Blocks clean, time to prefit the crank and check the clearance on conrods 1 and 3 to the oil gallery.

Thought I would resurrect this thread.
Now with a new 'remanufactured' 96mm top hat block from ACR. The offset crank is in, Chevy I beam rods and forged pistons in and clearances checked.
So I am back to fitting the crower solid cam with brand new timing chain and vernier.
I set the cam straight up at the recommended 104 degree but initial check on valve clearance has very little on the Inlets and more than plenty on the exhausts. So I guess I need to set it a few degrees retarded to stay safe.

I have timed the cam in at 107 degrees so it now sits 3 degrees retarded from the recommendation on the cam card.

The blue was at 104 and the red is at 107. As you can see more than twice the clearance.

Last time using the multi keyway timing set the best I could get was 102, ie 2 degrees advanced. So this cam is now set 5 degrees retarded from where it was at when I had the engine running on Dales dyno. At the time we were impressed with the torque but disappointed when peak power went flat. Hopefully the new cam setting combined with new timing gear and new valve springs that have been set properly we can recover that power at the top end I was hoping to see.

Heres the graph from the last time... the dotted lines are where I was hoping to be

Changing the valve timing is very interesting Derek.

That is something I would quite like to do on mine as I'm sure I could increase the BHP for a small reduction in torque but I really can't be arsed at the moment due to my other boring, (by comparison) project!

To be safe you would want to check valve to piston clearance when retiming the cam too so not a simple job.
I think it could be worth the effort on your though Peter. Have a weekend off the other boring project and try make yours good enough to hold the NA title
