4 in. 4 to go.

I threw the ring compressor in the bin, much easier by hand.

I think that you are right, microscopic pitting will start wear in a short time.

The poor flat tap pet cam is under enough pressure with double valve springs!
I must be getting old.
I know Peter uses an IPad.
Yet it has taken me over an hour to realise that a flat tap pet cam.......

.......is one of the new breed of modern, hi-tech, auto-correcting cams sleep

Bootiful Derek. Glad you sorted the crank issue.

I take it there was nothing in that crack.

Last pic this weekend.

Next Friday will be timing the cam in, fitting the heads and checking valve clearance then hopefully getting the engine back in the car

Apparently the whole stock of v8tuner's solid lifters are damaged the same as mine and he won't have any in for at least 2 weeks.

So will be ordering from elsewhere as I want the engine buttoned up in the car this weekend.

All parts are individually balanced.
I gave recently refurbished 500 ported heads by David Knight.

They are mine, never leaked a drop.

Your problem might have been excessive crankcase pressure,.....maybe.

Derek thats the oil I used don't be alarmed by the slight reduction in OP remember you wont have this in for long so it wont be running at high temps or dealing with high loads for long periods, I only used mine for 300 miles with a filter change in-between (after cam break in) with a big magnet stuck on both filters inc the sump plug wink every little helps cool just out of curiosity they trapped nothing more than what can best be described as a very fine grey silt like you would expect from piston rings cam gear etc smokin mainly the sump plug not the filter (I always cut them open on my new engines) well this is my 1st since 93 biglaugh nowadays I would rather spend time looking after the ones I have already than building them whistle
