Oh confused of course you already had them frown what brand model of lifter then Derek?
I have the comp cam ones as you recommended. I notice thy are recessed deeper than the hydraulics. Also the rocker arms sit higher but may adjust somewhat. I do think i need longer rods though

Maybe these rods will work ok with the roller rocker adjusted a few mm can be had. The pushrods just need lengthening about 3 or 4mm. There is plenty of thread in the tube.

Sending 4 thin spring washers and 2 thicker ones, that's all I have.

I recommend you source others as I am sure that you'll need more to space them out.
Cheers Peter i have others too that came off standard shafts.
Reckon i will just have enough.

With a quick check set up this is what i have.
The rocker adjusters wound down flush with the nut.

Leaves my pushrods adjusted to this height. There is a good 12mm tread depth into the rod.

12mm should be OK iiho.

No idea, Simon? shout
Just realised the cups are for the smaller ends.
So now i need a new set of adjuster tops with small ends

I think real steel do oversized rods that you cut to length and fit whatever ends you need.

That took a lot of work. Had to take a couple mm from the insides of the JE outrigger posts to allow extra shims and spring washers. All seems to line up nicely now.
Oh and i had to open up the new 'fully ported' exhaust gaskets to line up with my ports.
Notice i cleaned the oil out of number 4.

Your flying on this build...well done smile

What your plans on the nitrous then ??
Feels like its taking forever.
Want the engine in tomorrow, fired up and bedding the cam on Thursday then will bed the pistons on Dales rollers Friday.

Going to try a 3 stage set up.
100 bhp at full throttle, 70 bhp also at full throttle but with a microswitch preventing operation in 1st gear, then 50 on the steering wheel button just in case.

Are those studs on the lower, have you slotted all the the lower bolt holes on the manifold. What head bolts are those. Questions questions questions, I know. One day i wll be able to answer somethingrolleyes
Yes studs with slots. Much easier to remove and fit whilst in the car.
ARP head studs Barrie, you need these in yours along with decent head gaskets. The composite Elrings are good but may not take the boost you have for too long.

How did that post get there again?.

Cheers anyway Peter but i found some extra shims. Owe you beers.... again.

Trying to make progress is sweaty work in this heat. Also doesnt help that i have a bees nest above my back door that i have to pass as i go in and out the garage. Lively buggers today!

No, I used spacer to head with a smear of Hylomar and then a rubber gasket as normal.
The spacer isnt pefectly flat to my head. Does it clamp down with the rocker cover screwed down?

Talking of sumps.

I just fitted mine and the crank hitting it.
Guess a little adjustment with a special tool is required

A hard day with not a lot to show for it.
Found the nearside exhaust manifold has a split in it so i welded it up using stainless rods (yes they do exist). Problem was that my welding skills left me when i came out of my apprentiship and moved to the drawing office. Also the metal was thin, the rods were old, the set was naff, etc, needless to say it took me ages and isnt pretty so no pic.
Heres a pic of the other end, the thread in the head had its last day so i tapped it and fit a nice cap head.

Onto the rocker covers, also damaged threads in the heads and the fact i could not find longer 1/4 UNC bolts anywhere. So a step up to these bad boys

As well as tapping the heads, had to drill open the rocker covers and spacers.

So i think any thoughts of racing this Sunday let alone getting it in the car and running are slim to none.

Tape on the trumpet base is apt dont ya think
