I think we are all going crazy.

Latest numbers at 50 thou off full inlet lift are 161 and 67 = 228 /2 = 114
I need it at 104 so thats 10 degrees out. Too far with only 6 degrees available on the JP.

If i move the chain 1 link on the cam sprocket i get 142 and 50 = 192 /2 = 96, ie 18 degrees less makes sense.
At 96 i am 8 degrees out so could get within 2 degrees.

If i slip the chain on the crank sprocket the difference doubles to 36 degrees!

So that will have to do.

I slipped a tooth on the cam sprocket and used the 6 degree retard keyway.

at 50 thou got 149 and 55 = 204 /2 = 102. So 2 degree from the cam card.

Now one last recheck of the valve clearance then i can make some real progress.

The JE posts need some work.
John phoned me and explained that i needed to open the bottom part of the bolt hole to 10.3-10.5mm and 8mm deep to clear any thread on the bolt and unrestrict the oil supply to the rocker gear. It seems i will also have to relieve the gap to allow a shim to fit either side of the rocker.

I had a spare set of standard rocker gear with different thickness shims so I had 2 sets.

To get the rockers to sit squarely over the valve stems took quite a bit of jiggling about with the spacers to get it spot on!

Another job that takes far longer then you would think.

Why the hell should the base drillings be modified?

Why not correct in the first place!!!!

I got the impression that someone sent out 4 that werent opened up and he realized so called me. He did say if i wasnt confident then he would send me 2 done. As i understand it, its only the front 2 need doing for the oil supply. I think the back 2 restrict the outflow to keep some pressure up in the shaft.

I am now a person with little faith when it comes to so called specialists, (mostly).

Oh pants!

Just placed one assembly on the engine. I see what you mean, need more spacers.
Worse news is that my adjustable pushrods are way to short!

Deep breath, accept the delay, send them back for the correct ones.
Its a high powered engine you are building, not a washing machine made out of lego.

You have my sympathies Derek.

I may have a handful of shims in the garage.

Let me know and I'll wizz them off.

Derek they have sent the wrong push-rods mate there are 2 different length adjustable's rolleyes I also had to modify the bolt hole with a groove to sort the oiling on my outrigger posts spotted this early (although wasn't told confused) inc opening up the claw/center to accommodate the RR and the supplied shim it also allowed me to center the roller tip over the valve but like Peter says bloody time consuming, in fact I think I spent more time on rocker and valve gear details than anything else frown and I was helped out with spacers/collars from Spend thumbup

I have the comp cam ones as you recommended. I notice thy are recessed deeper than the hydraulics. Also the rocker arms sit higher but may adjust somewhat. I do think i need longer rods though

Maybe these rods will work ok with the roller rocker adjusted a few mm can be had. The pushrods just need lengthening about 3 or 4mm. There is plenty of thread in the tube.

Sending 4 thin spring washers and 2 thicker ones, that's all I have.

I recommend you source others as I am sure that you'll need more to space them out.
