So it begins (again).

Today i picked up the block and new parts to start the build. A forged internal 5.0

New balanced 86.3mm stroke crank

New I beam Chevy 6" rods

New custom 96mm forged pistons

New liner and rebore to 96mm

Now to put it together, hopefully in the right order.

Spring locks. The first one took ages then i got the nack and the others went in fairly easy.
Making sure the pistons point forward and the rods have the chamfers to the outside.

Done.

Havent a clue what twin 850s means but I am assuming that equals loads of power?

Very interesting. We've had chassis rebuild threads, but what about a detailed engine rebuild thread? Would be very useful!

Lovely pistons Derek digging those spiral locks thumbup Chuffy doing an engine put together thread would be easy enough but an engine build thread would be just too time consuming and distracting they absorb too much time as it is without keep stopping to take pics frown just my cents worth wink

Yes, I agree, a useful rebuild thread would be good. I have a stock brand new 4ltr P38 cross bolted range rover engine that I'd like to convert to TVR spec, do I have to take it apart to balance or will it be balanced as well as the TVR lump? Presumably I have to remove the heads to modify for double valve springs? And swap timing belt cover to allow duplex sprockets to fit? It's been collecting dust on the second floor of my house for about 2 years now…..lol
