Castlecombe track day, any interest?
Discussion
Does anyone know what Castle Combe/Opencrack's rules are on helmets?
I wouldn't have given it a second thought, especially as I have both open and full face anyway. But I noticed a thread in the TD forums that stated that MSV (who don't own Castle Combe, I agree) have started insisting on full face helmets for soft top cars, roof up or roof down. But soft top cars with a hard top on are counted the same as tin tops. I guess we have a semi hard one (echoes of Clarkson here!), as our lid is hard but the rear bit is soft.
Anyone have anything useful (and non-smutty ) to add?

I plan to be there the night before in the motorhome.
bring some beers.
I have a 2-man (though from the lack of size of it, it should be called a 2-person-intimately-acquainted) tent in the man cave. Must give it an outing. I haven't camped since Julian Clary was in primary school. bring some beers.
Beers.....mmmmmm!! Thank God for the vast and capacious Chimaera boot. I will get me down to Asda with the coolbox.
[quote=QBee]Come along for the fun, Alun.
It's a Friday, I may well go down there Thursday evening and can pick you up on the way.
We can walk the track together if we can get in.
All we need is a mate with a 3/4 bunk motor home and ear plugs.
Or get your car sorted.
Or borrow an MX5 off your mate. :
I'm not temping fate but I might actually complete on Hse sale over the next week or so,,,,
Can't see Dom getting the work done on my car before the date,
If he can I'll come for the Craic.
I've just picked up a new push bike to train on, I've never been so unfit!
Did I forget to mention my left arm was about 20% strength at Bedford, trapped nerve, agony for months,,
You were mad letting me drive your car,,
I havnt really helped with the Mazda's for over a month until Snetterton because of my injury,,
I might just borrow a car and come up anyway, please lads I don't want to be blagging drives in peoples car so it's just because I like to be around it all.
It's the passion you all display,
I need to check the dates, maybe racing that wk end anyway,

Bluebottle, (Hamish) and I will be at Combe on the 25th as well, a Porsche TD so that will be interesting if anyone is around and fancies showing their face.
I'm always up for ferrying passengers!
Keep posting them vids Peter,,, it helps me no end.I'm always up for ferrying passengers!
I watch the Mazda footage and it's just not the same !
We are travelling so fast towards the turns, braking points miles apart,,
Your gonna have a ball arnt you Peter,,,,,,,
If the Mazdas race on the same bill as the TVR DTEC, then it will be August 8th at Angelsey next.
Alun, as I said, I have to drive within 10-15 miles of your gaff, so you are welcome to a lift. The direct route from mine to Castle Combe goes past Leicester, between Coventry and Rugby, past Stratford and Cirencester.
It's a lovely scenic route through the Cotswolds, especially in a car where you don't have to plan your overtaking half an hour ahead.

If you torque them correctly then they loosen, probably due to expansion/contraction of the ally wheels.
Let a tyre shop do up the nuts, (probably 200ft lb and you won't have any trouble ).
Look forward to the night before.
Unfortunately my motorhome is 2 berth and although I really like you Alun..........................

"The long way back"
There is a trackday at Goodwood on the 9th July hosted by TVR Car Club Hampshire. The cost is £185 inc. VAT and AMRCO insurance. Details on the Chim group on Facebook....

I assume it is not open pit lane but I have always fancied a crack at Goodwood so have booked up. If anyone else wants to join then you need to email Annette on the group.

I did Goodwood about nine years ago in a 5.3 XJS.
The word I was thinking of is "wallowy"

Well, I got my rear in gear after an email chat with Ian, and have acquired this in honour of of impending get together ( and because I think I have pushed my track day luck quite far enough)
I noticed when towing mine,,,,,, it felt heavy? It weighs what it weighs but I still thought it felt heavy?
That's the way to go mate,,, get in there Anthony.
