Well, I got my rear in gear after an email chat with Ian, and have acquired this in honour of of impending get together ( and because I think I have pushed my track day luck quite far enough)
Hi Anthony, how was the towing experience? didn't think a single axle trailer would be up to the job of a TVR? Interested as Geoff has gone for a twin axle Brian James C4..Phil

The significance of the 1420 kg is that the wheels are rusty and the tyres on them are not particularly new, and while the correct type, are only rated for 1340kg. So I have bought a used set of TSW 5 spoke alloys for £60, and have ordered some new Uniroyal Rain Max 2 tyres with a load rating of 102, which is over 800 kg per wheel.
They arrive tomorrow and once they are fitted i will then load up and go for a test drive. With that and all the other bits I have done over the last couple of weeks, it is still under £900 all up.
If you see a "for sale" sign on it on Friday you will know I have realised my mistake!

I don't know, look at all you chimp boys with your posh trailers. Are the Griff boys the only ones still daft enough to drive their cars to and from the the track?
EFATBH Matt, I agree with you on the whole, but this one is 150 miles each way for me (and my Saab estate is soooo comfortable), and I plan to do Anglesey, Croft and Oulton Park before too long. I have done 25+ track days now without an accident, breakdown or puncture, and I suddenly thought that for once I would take action before I found myself stuck at the track saying "why didn't I.....".
Plus I like a little project. Having found, with three weeks to go to Castle Combe, a basically sound trailer for less than £600, I have been haunting the pages of Ebay buying all the bits I need to turn an ok trailer into one fit for a TVR. New jockey wheel, new winch, new rear support posts, new LED lights, new wheels and tyres, hitch-lock, painting, rubber treads on the ramps, tie down straps. Having thought I had given myself acres of time, I am still fettling it, whilst possibly planning on driving it down to Combe tomorrow if they let us camp. Good job I am freelance and worked all weekend - I have today and tomorrow at my desk at home, mucking about on here rather than working.
LOL on the edit.
Looks like a good idea to be fair, I really don't enjoy driving back from trackdays as I am normally knackered and really bored of the heavy clutch and noisy exhaust. I would love to waft home in comfort and luxury.
I would love to do Anglesey, looks like such an epic circuit.
What is the deal with insurance when you are towing your TVR?

I agree about driving back when knackered - I had to stop three times on the way back from Bedford. This way I can stuff a tent etc in the car, plus a couple of sets of spare wheels and tyres to deal with punctures and weather conditions, plus more tools than usual.
My daily is a Saab 9-5 estate, so loads of room with the rear seats folded.
Your comment reminded me that i hadn't arranged my track day cover with Classic Line, so I rang them just now, arranged it, and checked, and the car is covered for all eventualities while on the trailer. The only condition is that I must take it off the trailer over-night, to avoid the risk of someone stealing both!
You guys!
I always enjoy the drive back, the pleasures of the day spinning through my mind.
I always stick to the speed limit and find the drive a great wind down and look forward to exaggerating my prowess behind the wheel in stories of fearlessness and bravery to my children (18-28 and they don't listen) and washed down with a few glasses of wine.
Can life get any better?
