Morning chaps.
The pads on my rockers are near enough shot. Which ones do you recommend for replacement. I have seen the usual ones on ebay but would prefere to know what others have used.
Thanks

Having mullered a few now, I'd avoid the OEM type with the steel pads on alloy arms; especially if higher RPMs and/or bigger cams are involved. The pads do detach or break up and, when they do, the valve stems take a beating. I've no experience of the all steel arm but can't see why they should not be fine - can certainly recommend the YT roller jobs if happy to invest

Do you think thats just down to the quality of the rocker arms?????....

or inherent misalignments in the valve train so the pad is struck just too many times off-centre?

Another quick rocker question

After my rocker shaft snapped the end off at brands the other week i've picked up a 2nd hand set with solid steel shaft mounts with end mount to support the end of the shaft, billet shafts and alloy rockers..

my old setup had hd steel rockers rather than alloy. Im tempted to swap my steel rockers on to the new shafts as the alloy ones are showing a little wear on the inside. and my steel ones have probably only 40 hours running on them ( race use) and look like new on the inside and the valve pad.

would it make more sense to stik with the HD steel and a bit more weight in the valve train, or go for the lighter alloy ones and accept the higher shaft and rocker wear

Ermm, I really DGAS provided the bloody things don't crap in my engine - given the pads are not bonded centrally on the arm anyway but should be supported over the full striking width, I'm more inclined to think it's just a consequence of greater spring pressures, more lift/sweep, and higher rpm being used than were ever the design intention
