Been looking at shocks amongst other things as I want to try and sharpen up the handling of the car, when I found the company above selling the Avo units fairly cheaply.

Just wondered if anybody on here had any experience of them?

Had them on a cobra replica with a similar chassis to the tvr and didn't have a problem but only covered 10000 miles in 9 years.
They needed cleaning up as they corroded quite quickly but not a major issue.
Ive heard mixed reports about the customer service though with regards to returns for servicing.

Had them on the Ginetta when new- Incredibly heavy to add to the unsprung mass that cant help the handling, and they tended to leak oil- I had them rebuilt once under warranty and again for a fairly low cost to me. I'd look at Protech, the cost is not unreasonable and they are alloy so about 1/3 of the weight.

Thanks for the replies guys, I've had a look at the Protechs and they're quite reasonable on the price, is anyone currently running these?
I'm sure I've read somewhere about Protech selling direct to customers?

Protech definitely do straight to customers as they are used heavily by the kit car guys. They get very good right ups generally on locostbuilders.

I went down to the workshops with my old Avos, and asked them to do me a bespoke set with spherical bearings instead on poly bushes, and they built and set them up while I waited, and they happily took cash. The workshop is pretty hard to find on the industrial estate, and is just that- No fancy show rooms just lots of lathes, milling machines and oil- as it should be.

Yeap, got these all round on mine and never had any issues with them, car sees track a few times a year. Ordered and paid direct, got them sent to the garage that fitted them very quickly. rotate
