Stablemate to the chim?

Hi Alun, yep front wheel drive, traction, abs and stability.
When I drove my last one in the sleet at Combe a few years ago it was absolutely brilliant on track.
When I switched all the drivers aids off I almost binned it within a few seconds, just goes to show how it keeps you on track in bad conditions.

That equates to more safety on the roads, which is a good thing, but also explains how we battle against some less powerful cars on track days. When I drove my last one in the sleet at Combe a few years ago it was absolutely brilliant on track.

Good choice Peter. Even if it doesn't last more than 30-50,000 miles, t doesn't exactly owe you a lot. Bit like my wfe's £875 Saab.
The bandit I did my test on,,,traction control,,,, on a bike!!!!!
It was very very good,,,
You make a very good point Anthony,,
One of the things that keeps freaking me out over here is the amount of French cars with bents in them,,,I just see another biker hitting the deck everytime I see it,,, I had to turn left off a main road yesterday,,, busy road,, bottled it and went a good few miles just to go round a round about instead?
It's also the bikes that white line it that causes the problems so I tend to just let them go now and just cruise behind the cars,,,,
I missed a trick the other week,, 2004 Golf diesel,,for my boy,,,
200,000 miles on it,, a young Polish couple selling it,,,it was a good car and good drivers seat and steering wheel ( condition) motorway milage,, it's nothing to cars that are built well and maintained properly!

You can't compare modern cars milage with cars of our youth.
A golf GTi with 177K miles on it passed through my sons hands earlier this year, it drove like a car with 50,000 miles on it.
He sold it for £800, bargain!
Seriously considering getting something like that for wet track days........A golf GTi with 177K miles on it passed through my sons hands earlier this year, it drove like a car with 50,000 miles on it.

My son has a golf 1.8 GL on the driveway which he is going to convert to a track car.
Even though it is something like T Reg it has a genuine 30,000 miles on the clock, he bought it from a fellow mechanic, it was his wife's car, for £200! It is immaculate inside and out. An ideal solid base to start with.

I have been looking at the Clio 172/182s on PH Classifieds. Lot of fun car for little money. In at the deep end, first Skoda TD booked up.
Bring on the rain!

Don't do it! I bought a 172 Cup. Hated it. Dreadful driving position, and bolted together like a cheap French hatchback, because, well, that's what it is. Engine was awful, loud and rough and it literally fell to pieces. When I came to sell it, it was easier to describe what remaining things worked than what didn't. zed4 said:
