Hi folks,

Long story short, one of the plastic nuts which holds my brake light switch to the bracket has broken. In for a penny, in for a pound, I thought I'd replace the whole unit as they're quite cheap and it wouldn't do any harm.

After a lengthy google search, looking for Ford and Vauxhall parts, it turns out the one fitted to my 2000 Chim 450 is from a Talbot Express / Fiat Ducato! Is this right?!! All the TVR parts suppliers I've looked at don't stock this part - has anyone else had the same complication? Should i replace it with a different part?

Thanks,

Richard

Hi,
Looks very different, I thought it should be this one:-

The switch is also used for the handbrake switch

Original was from a peugeot 205 iirc, the fiat one you list looks like a bit of a generic "one size fits all" and may well have been replaced in its lifetime.

It is a simple push to make switch and many switches could be used providing the plunger operates enough to make the circuit when the pedal is pushed.

Thanks everyone. So it's likely to have been a botched speedy fix.

I must admit, it looked akwardly large when fitted and I did wonder how it had lasted so long. I'll order one of the "original" ones - hopefully it will fit ok.

Thanks for your help! beer
