Vac unit was definitely knackered, I can almost breath through it!

Fitted the new one this afternoon.

30mph in 5th gear now with minimal shunting.

I'll rip the old one apart for some photos

what and where in the vac unit? On the back of the plenum?

The vac unit is on the side of the dizzy, connected by a pipe to the port just down stream of the throttle butterfly valve in the plenum neck.

Looks like this:



2 minutes with a dremmel and



There are two diaphragms in there.

The outer diaphragm from the dizzy wasn't in bad shape with only 1 hole but the inner was rather crispy and has lots of holes. The two weren't stuck together round the edge so I guess that the air was just going straight through it.
