Oil pump priming ?
I've read posts, I've watched YouTube and I've done as I've been told but I still don't think I can get it to prime.
I have the tool (the one you remove the distributor for) to prime without cranking the engine but I expected to see oil coming out of the filter feed.
What am I doing or where am I going wrong ?
Please help, I'm so close to finishing this project and I'm desperate to get her on the road again.

It won't prime without the oil filter on ? (needs some back pressure to pump against), you could stick a hose on the filter screw & back fill then prime with your drill.. but its a bit pointless.
Just put it together & drill ~ you'll know when its primed it snaps your arm off
I always take great care to prefill the oil filter (that can take 24 hours!) before spinning on, and on new engines dribble oil down through the oil switch hole to get the timing cover & pump as full as possible. I invested in a hydraulic bleeder / dispenser, so I just blow oil in & then suck it out using an adapter into the oil switch which makes it all much easier (& less stressful as well working on serps as well)

The assembly lube I hope you have used on all moving parts will work fine until you get oil pressure. It needs revs to suck properly, so pack it with vaseline, turn the engine manually to align up the ignition mark and turn the dizzy so that it will give a spark exacly there (take the cap and rotor off youll see the trigger inderneath) on cyl 1
when it fires, go right up to 1500 rpm to get oil pressure and bed in the cam
