Tremec TR-6060 Gearbox
Discussion
I've no idea what ratios were in my old LS, but what I will say is that despite it being 6 speed, it was really more like driving a 4 speed, plus an overdrive..... Why's that you may ask
Well with around 450ft/lbs of torque, and over 400 ft/lbs at just 2000 rpm....1st gear was all but redundant..
So I would happily pull away in 2nd......up to 3rd, 4th and 5th... And that was the majority of my driving....6th was only any real use, on long runs on the motorway, or other roads with higher speeds and little traffic...
Day to day driving 1st and 6th were of little use

For my car I think the 1 to 4 gears are perfect, If can do 100 mph in fourth why not just have a higher fith gear to drop my 2700 at 70 mph to about 2200 which would be perfect.
I've been looking for a 3.08 crown when and pinion for a long time without any success, Derek swears by the 3.08.
Dave if you have the 3.77 it needs changing to at least 3.45.

To get the right ratios apparently what I need is either a Tremec TUET11009 or a TUET-11010 GM LS T56 Magnum.

http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/awr-tuet1101...
These two codes give the Option one box with the first 3 gears a fraction lower than my T5 and 4th & 5th exactly the same, so I could easily just treat it as a much nicer shifting 5 speed with a lovely light clutch if I wanted.
But then there's always the option to pop it into sixth if I feel the need to, making the TUET11009/TUET-11010 effectively what I have now plus one.
Sounds perfect to me
I've now corrected my diff to a 3.46, as you can see I really wouldn't want a taller sixth than the 0.62
First up at my chosen cruising velocity of 82 MPH the engine is turning at just 2,300 RPM .
And now if I say 2,000 RPM is my lower engine speed limit my lowest acceptable road speed in sixth will be a shade over 71 MPH.
I think TUET11009/TUET-11010 could work well, but I definitely need to avoid the more commonly offered TUET-11011 or TUET-11012 box with its super tall 0.50 sixth gear.
Dave.

I would love a TR6060.
I wonder if we could get a group buy price down to the kind of offer that Neal and Alex were lucky to get.
At least get a substantial discount.

Put me on the provisional list please.
Good call Derek Come on boys, lets see if we can put this together, I need this box so much it hurts!!!
Hhhmmm, just before you get too excited guys from the photo it looks as if there is an intermediate housing [internal slave?] between belhousing and box. From my own experience with my TKO 600 conversion [thread on 'major mods'] you will need to know if you could fit the box to a modded RV8 belhousing as I would suspect the length of the input shaft would need the intermediate section in order to fit and if so then would the intermediate section be able to be fitted to an RV8 belhousing. The length of input shaft is critical and I know the 600 has two to choose from, one being for Ford [the one needed for an RV8] conversion and the other Chevy. There is a belhousing available stateside for the 600 but at around £700 with an open bottom half {???}. I had mine modified. [Not sure about 6060] Spigot bearing to be made, output yoke to suit, modded propshaft, suitable gearshift mechanism [there are three on the 600 and the one I needed was a mid-mount at £350 alone] and gearbox mount made/moved. Some exhaust mods' will be needed also. It's not a take out/bolt in job to an RV8, just so as you know. Not pissing on fireworks here and not impossible as I found but there is work needed.
my conversion came in at £3k using a low mileage second hand box and doing all the work/measurements myself
Keep us posted guys, interesting one this

Hi Nigel
For me I was merely future proofing [though 554 torque at present] as I 'may' want to up the boost a little at some point [another build?]. Though to be honest it's enough at the moment.
I also worry a lot, like to tinker and an anorak
thinking on, I need to chat with you about diff's

Still don't get why change it, yes if running big torques and bhp but a lot have still got away with the old T5
Seams like a lot of work for what exactly in return ? if your not running big number ?
Gearbox man does a different gear set for the t5 if you wanted different ratios
This Dave ^^^. Stick in a longer 5th AND get the turbo. Have your cake and eat it.Seams like a lot of work for what exactly in return ? if your not running big number ?
