You are correct, connecting the two contacts together will bring on the fans (ignition has to be on). If fans turn on then your otter switch needs replacing. If nothing happens then clean up the two plastic connectors that go to each fan located at the bottom of the radiator as these can get dirty.
You need to establish the make of fan you have first: Kenlowe, Spal, Davies Craig etc. as they will all likely have different ways of mounting. Some may have detachable blades, in which case you should just be able to buy the motor, or some may be integral. Usually fans have labels on the motor.
Just managed to partly take fan housing off the radiator (can't get single bottom bolt) and have found that the fan has come off the motor shaft, tested motor on 12v battery and works fine, so no power to motor I'm guessing, have put fan back on motor shaft but just need a new circlip washer now to secure it , when I arc the 2 main wires to the otter switch together I can hear the relay clicking. Could it still be a fuse or is it more than likely the wiring between the otter switch and the fans, the fans are Spal ones

If it is that the fans are knackered where is the best place to get new ones including after market jobbys.
Remove the fan andSpray some WD40 or a penetrating fluid on the rotating internals and let it soak overnite. X works did this to one of my fans 7 years ago and its still working, ooopst l have just cursed my fans also????Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
