Hi Al what a bunch eh? Managed to spend a couple of hours having a good tidy and clean ready to start music and heating was on very comfy!
Got a price for complete hood replacement including the targa and they are willing to do it at home so that solves one set of logistics and with a week lead in time so works for the build plan
The ecu is set up for a base map for the 4.5 so hopefully it won't be far out to have it running, injectors are going to refurbished vectra so the fuel map may need a tweek initially, not sure on that as it's not my cup of tea
Feel so chuffed about the whole thing now!!!

Glad you're feeling more positive about it Rich and hope we can indeed get it done in record time so you can have some fun in it.

Alun, Top work fella! Just shout me when you know and give me a call if you need to chew anything over.

Fantastic effort guys! I can't offer anything other than encouragement and support. Wrong place, no time, etc. This restores my faith in human nature, as there is too much bad stuff out there these days. Go guys! Let's see that 10 day target achieved. driving

Rich, Alun et al. I'm a bit late picking up this thread I'm afraid. I'm only just over the border in Northants, generally have some spare days during the week, know one end a spanner from another and have some 450 bits & bobs left over from my upgrades. More than happy to come over and help in any way I can, just let me know. I'm free Monday, Wednesday & Thursday next week (at the moment).

Well, good start today, alun made a mess in my nice tidy garage !! He finalised all the intake pipe work making bits where needed and changed the injectors to refurbished vectors items,I sat like little jack Horner and made a start albeit slowly sorting and repairing the front loom,so it's on it's way
Alun is leading the build and I think he is going to liaise with all the kind people that have offered help

Kind regs

Thanks chaps,,,
Timing is everything,,, Richie and I need a few more good days on the car to really make use of other people's help,,,

Today I was looking at a million things and it's hard to know where to start,, Rich knows where everything is which is a bonus I can tell you,, hah,
So we started at the front and go from there,,,
Richie sorted out and soldered up many connections in the front wiring loom,, major progress,,
I did a few bits on the induction side, cutting and fabricating a bracket and removed plenum,,lifted fuel rail and replaced the injectors,, not overly happy with the sealing,,, it's lots of little things to do but all takes time.

We had a good crac and it felt like things were coming together,,,
I'll really try and nail down a number of the jobs to do tomorrow and make sure we have everything to complete,, then ask your guys help to come and do certain stuff,
You'll really like this car lads,,

We're slowly making a list of parts and tasks to be completed,,

Told you it was a good car, smile

As you can see Rich has done it right,,, it used to be blue hehe
It's just tidying up odds and ends in the engine bay, fitting the lights,
Sensors need connecting up to loom etc,
Dash clocks back in, connect every thing up,,
Interior in,
Doors re assembling and fitting, wiring looks intact.

My heads swirling with info...

So many good people are offering to come up for a day or two here and there,,
I need another day or two with Rich and we'll have a plan that gives me the confidence to invite others to come along and put this girl back on the road,,,

It's nearly there already,, it's a mammoth task in man hours but if we can make progress by say sat or Sunday then I'll contact the fantastic volunteers on here and organise the days people are available,, a steady stream of people coming so say two maybe three people on the car on a daily basis,,,
It all revolves around having everything at hand,, there are things to get,,, there always is,,, give us a couple more days and we should have ordered parts and from there we can arrange work schedules,

I said ten days,,, we could but it's gonna be next week before the world decides to start working again so we can know when stuff gonna arrive,,
Anyway,,, Rich is his usual piss taking self,, we really enjoyed it,, got quite a lot done,,
Right forget most the front of the car and engine bay,, that'll be all together soon,
I'll replace hub studs for longer and put some pads in, the Brake master is empty, get it filled, bleed, see what gives?
Next week I'll hopefully have at least two people who can come during the week,, by next week end I'll maybe be asking for the guys who can come then but I'll keep you all posted and give you all a bell well in advance.

Bob on Neal,,, OK,, I'll stop fixing and actually make full lists of every job and stuff required to do it,,

Anyone who can offer some assistance if you can Email me your Phone details etc at
Davies.alun@mail.com
Giving me an idea of the dates your available over say the next 2-3 weeks I'll then work with Rich on who does what and when.
If we had everything at hand, a team of chaps,, 2-3 a day would have it running in no time?

Rich's friend is coming the end of next week to hopefully finish off the interior wiring (alarm )

The new Ecu is mounted under the dash and fixed so it's getting there.

Good luck with the challenge guys. I won't be any use in the garage, but call if you need a trailer.

Looking at the photos, if you get a chance to re-route that red battery lead direct to the starter you might find it starts a whole lot better, as it won't be relying on the lead that runs over the gearbox from fuse box to starter to carry all those cranking amps. You can run it along the chassis rail rather than through the car.

Well, quick update,I finished my jack Horner impression and got the front loom all repaired and back in position, found it very tiring but satisfying as alum can now plug everything in and hopefully I've got all the connections sussed and within a couple of days we can probably get it powered up without having a bonfire
Alun farted about modifying my modified power steering res bracket (with the change to canems my idle valve is mounted in this area and it's all a bit tight) looking at some pics of other installs it's been left loose but that's not to my liking,he refitted the plenum and redirected the header to swirl pot pipework, front chassis to body bolts done up (I had forgotten these) and it's already for the rad to be finally fitted and piped up . As with my old front it's got mk3headlights, I built these some time ago when I was a bit better so now the loom is all done these can be fitted. Alun has finished the plenum intake track and pipes so they can have a final fitting and he has also fitted the vac pipes for the maf sensor so we are gradually moving up the car
